Cyanogen is dead now, but I have a Tracfone Galaxy S4 SM-S975L and it, obviously, can't update past Android 4.3
Can I still use Cyanogen to update to Android 7, and is it even worth it? Is there something better that you'd recommend?

And does anyone know any good tutorials, because every one I've found is written in broken English. This one seems decent but I can't fully understand it.
LineageOS. Search for that plus your phone model to see if there is any ROM available, otherwise you should stick to CyanogenMod.

Unfortunately it looks like LineageOS doesn't support the Galaxy S4 SM-S975L.
Does anyone have any good links or guides on installing Cyanogen? The wiki is gone, and ever tutorial I find that's half decent is barely English and doesn't cover everything.

1. Find a custom recovery that works with your model
2. Flash it with ODIN (there are guides for this)
3. Copy Cyanogen .zip to an SD card and put it in your phone
4. Go to recovery mode
5. Wipe everything and then install Cyanogen
6. Optionally flash pico Gapps if you want Google botnet on your phone

Yeah, it's XDA, deal with it

I have the S4 SM-S975L, which only had Android 4.3. So basically, I get a copy of that, and flash it with Odin. Then I use the following steps to clear absolutely everything off of my phone and install Cyanogen?
Does flashing matter given that I have the only version ever made for my Model? And I'm supposed to erase everything right there in Recovery Mode, not anywhere else before hand?

I also should have asked; do I need to root my phone or get any other software, or can I just do this as is?
