Yes you big fuckin baby
Do you try to replace your god damn engine belt while your car is running?

On Linux, you can replace your entire engine while it's running.

That's because Linux is a kids toy car.

That explains why almost every supercomputer in the world runs it.

That's because All Microsoft file systems (FAT16/32 & NTFS) have a bug that prevents files from being reliably deleted or renamed.
Any process can open a file and hold it "hostage", preventing all deleting or renaming, until the process is killed. If it's a "zombie" (or other unkillable) process, then the file can be held hostage forever.
Therefore, the only reliable way to delete or rename a file on Windows is to reboot the machine. This is frequently why you need to reboot after installing software on Windows. The reboot ensures that the delete of the old version of the file(s) will be successful.
This is a severe "show-stopper" bug under any reasonable definition. Of course, Microsoft has refused to acknowledge or fix this bug for over 25 years. Instead, Microsoft has taught an entire generation of users that frequent rebooting is a normal part of the computing experience.
POSIX file systems do not have this bug. In POSIX, the concept of attaching/detaching a file to a directory is completely unrelated to whether the file is open or not.

Microsoft has taught you well.

Anon, an engine belt is hardware. Do you want to talk software? Drivers are what drive hardware. And yes, for those I agree, sometimes restarts might be needed.
But for software that is not essential to the OS? JESUS FUCKING CHRIST ARE YOU DENSE?
Waste of trips in my opinion.

It mostly just tells you that so they don't have the few people who did have a dependency emailing them 'my shit doesn't work' because they were told to restart, they get pissed and restart and magically it works
