hey /g/, I'm gonna start studying computer science in about a month so I need to buy a PC, got around 800$ and I don't live in the states so parts may be a little expensive. What should I buy?

thinkpad
If you study cs just get yourself a laptop for arround that price. Just buy one without Winshit 10 pre-installed as they cuck you and you can't install anything also than.

if you need something decent for cheap especially to get you through some university courses a thinkpad is unironically a great cheap choice

the thing is I don't wanna limit my pc just for cs, i like gaming as well so i was thinking a desktop, is it possible or way to expensive?

Good luck bringing that shit to lectures.

budget gaming is awful
If you're on a strict budget you should stick to consoles unless you only want to play old games

thought about it, discovered my collage has computers for that career, so i think i don't have to bring my own shit to class

As a gamer who dropped out I can confirm this.
Don't let it stop you from enjoying a semester or two away from your parents though. only gonna cost you like 20k max,
$800 is plenty for a gaming rig, provided it's a desktop and you put it together yourself. That money could also get you a decent laptop that's plenty good for CS and minor gaming. Laptop definitely a better idea for classes.

Used thinkpad. Install ubuntu and dual boot or vm to the more difficult distros to learn.
get a t520 or w520.

I should add this should only cost you 3-350. Use the rest to get a small nas you can add to or something.
Fellow CS cuck here, your uni/college should provide computers every time they expect you to use them so just get a desktop. I bought a laptop and have hardly used it.
$800 gaymen is certainly possible if you're not looking for ultra settings and your neck and back will thank you for not being hunched over a 15" screen for 4 years.

Pretty much this. Can't go wrong on $100/$200 through eBay or OfferUp of Craigslist.
Dropped $160 on this through/from Craiglist niggers. Ripped out the 7200 SeaShit hdd for my x2 ssd drives.

desktop is off now, gaming was on the side either way, my question now is if i absolutely need one for my first semester or if i could save until my second one and probably have 1600$ for a better one

If you just need a word processor buy a chrome book and use google docs. you can then build your gay ming pc later.
