/g/, I want a stupid little netbook-sized laptop to fuck around with Linux on to learn a thing or two. What's the best manufacturer/model for cheapo small sized laptops? I know about Eee PC and Thinkpad, that's about it.
won't let me post without a picture
X60
Buy a x200/10/20/30. They all should be availile for under $300

I'm looking at ebay listings and they all look pretty nasty. They're either really greasy or e.g. the paint where your palms rest is missing from all the human skin oil.
Gross.

>paint where your palms rest is missing
This cant be true, palmrest is solid black plastic on these models. Just replace it if it has damages.
thinkpad X, chromebook C720

all plastics tend to wear and go shiny with use, it has nothing to do with being oily
if it bothers you that much, just buy the nicest looking x200 you can and then buy a new keyboard and new plastic palm rest, it's literally a handful of screws to replace it with something that will be factory new
and if buying used laptops really bothers you *that* much buy one from a reseller that is selling off ex-corporate stock, they'll have minimal use but will be dusty/dirty from being sat in storage and warehouses for a while before being sold, pic related (note: next to no wear on the keyboard never mind the palm rest)
if it's a shitty blurry photo then buy from somewhere else, there's literally hundreds of thousands of these things floating about in various conditions, you can even buy brand new factory sealed ones on occasion (and for exorbitant prices)

Why a T60? Specs are bad (In modern times), it runs hot, and has poor battery life.
