Windows and Microsoft Office are now open source and free software.
Is there any reason to use Linux with all its problems anymore?

You don't know what open source is, reatrd.

I mean "What if", as in "Assume the case that Windows and Microsoft Office are now FOSS".

More people will switch to GNU/Linux because they'll see how shitty MS code really is.

WPF/XAML is such an amazing development platform. The only sad thing is that it's not fully multiplatform. If it were open platform today, about 90% of everything released for any desktop today would be developed on it.

Windows is not free as in Libre, it's free as in gratis.

most people? you? me? people on this board? pff, do you even know how many people really understand code? i bet there are less than 1% of people who really do

The same reason there is now: to feel special for using a shitty minority OS.

Is this a new meme or am I still too new? I've read it three times today.

As a Linux user I actually despise people who call it GNU/Linux.

If it was free software, there was no use for Linux anymore for the average desktop user. In that case we'd soon have Windows distributions with an actual desktop UI and without all the spyware. I'd be happy with that. But as long as that's not reality, I'm gonna stick to Linux. I haven't run into a problem that I couldn't fix yet. I haven't even seen an error message in 2 years probably.

I'm not a slave to the ideology of the free software.
I use Linux because I'm an enthusiast and an edgy contrarian.
