Hey anon. Work as IT admin in special school for violent teens. Can anon recommend any sites or places to look for sturdy itx cases that can take an internal psu (tfx or sfx are fine) and also accommodate an internal optical drive if possible (can work around that though)?
The case must be able to take abuse. My idea is to make a solid state, fanless, SOC system that can be easily repaired with off the shelf parts.
Thank you in advance.

Only kiosk terminals can take (some) abuse and dumbed down, waterproof and overpriced shit made for toddlers.

Just order custom cases made of thick steel, or something.

My company uses something like this for use on the manufacturing floor. It works well, OP.

We don't want thin clients. They need to be flexible enough to be used as full PCs due to the tech we use.

And what tech do you use that can't be virtualized?

Then buy some NUC's and and protect them in some metal cases from home depot or something.
As for a optical drive, what the fuck are you guys doing in the year of 2017 that requires a ODD?
Also why the fuck do you need a ODD installed in every unit, why not bring along a USB-driven enclosure ODD for those occurrences?
Try searching for industrial or embedded computers. Those should be able to take a beating.

Sweet! Thanks anon! >>58691567
Ha ha. We use several old smartboards and teachers insist on playing DVDs now and then. Much of our infrastructure is very old and we are only just coming out of the dark ages.

The problem with external Odds is they tend to get used as missiles. Think of a borstal. That is similar to where I work. We also have limited budgets. Hence the initial idea. Thanks all anons that have contributed. It's appreciated.
