would buying a used surface pro 3 or 4 be a mistake?
I'm not going to pay over $500 usd

yes, they're both garbage.
I remember the SP3 being cock of the walk when it came out not that long ago. Where does time go when it is no longer with us?
Pro tip #1: buy one with broken screen and use as htpc
might as well kill yourself instead of buying it

If used, make sure to inspect it first
It's a gamble for sure, because it's likely that the warranty on it is done.
Depends on specs as well (8 gb ram or gtfo)

i like the 3 more than 4. the 3's fan runs less for the tasks I do (developer stuff NOT gaymur retard shit). battery life is kinda shit though.
that said Id never pay for one. I got mine for free and the only reason I use it is because of the ultraportability mixed with the ease of connecting it to a cinema display with the miniDP and USB cords.

Nonono anon. You want an older Thinkpad™ with 4 hours of battery life max

I'd sell my pro 3 to you for $420. I got a laptop for uni and it just sits on my shelf now.
