I need a phone that doesn't do anything but make/take calls and ~possibly~ text. Without going into why, just take your best guess out of any of the reasons someone might want this and just go with that. Does anyone know where I might find such a device that will still work?

Depends. Here in the UK I would recommend this burner phone...
One of the UK supermarkets was selling this for £7.50 over Christmas.
You can't go much wrong with a Nokia. Either that or a cheap Alcatel phone for under 20 quid.

it's a phone with a segmented e-ink display. when texting, you can not even make a distinction between capital and small letters.
i fucking loved this phone though, but was a nightmare for 2 factor authentication on github and shit.
