ITT: post open source vidya
Bonus points if it's not one of the usual suspects
I found this one recently. It's a first-person roguelike. It's pretty fun - hard though.

Notch's old Ludum Dare submission for a raycasted dungeon puzzle game is okay.

I found this pretty helpful because having struggled with learning about how games are written (particularly in terms of how the abstractions relate to the program flow) this made a lot more sense than other game code I've read.
Handmade Hero is interesting.
The game itself doesn't look particularly good (though it's nowhere near finished), but the developer has extensively documented the development process by only coding while on video.

So far he seems to write it mostly in C with a little C++ mixed in. Definitely doesn't use templates though (I remember him writing a long blog post about how much he hates templates).
I'll get the big ones out of the way.
Wolf3d, Doom 1, 2, 3 (>tfw d44m isn't GPL), Quake 1, 2, 3.

I forgot about that. I've read in a few places that it's got extremely good code - I should take a look some time.

This isn't a full game yet, but it seems like all the basic game mechanics are in place. It just needs level design and story:

It's basically a pokemon clone, but it sounds like it might eventually be better with the way it can supposedly allow you to combine monsters.

Only legitimate shit tier coders actually rage this hard about the usage of a particular programming language.

This was a good thief alternative.

But what about harmful.cat-v.org? or suckless.org?
Scummvm has all the games I need
