What does this mean? What does typing speed have to do with technology?
>>58640007
it means you're slow
>>58640025
>top 8%
>slow
It's slow by /g/ standards though
>>58640095
That's the average on /g/. You ever been on these kinds of threads before?
100+ is where a true /g/ regular would be at.
At least you didn't make any mistakes.
>>58640007
My highest is 95 with almost perfect accuracy but ever since then it's been downhill.
I average out at around 80wpm
>>58640007
doesn't mean anything
>>58640007
>not using Typeracer
>under 80wpm
kys
>81-99wpm
acceptable for /g/ though still meh.
>100-120wpm
Standard /g/ level
>120wpm+
true typist
If you make more than 5-10 errors you're also a failure unless you're 120wpm+ at the same time.
>tfw typed improperly for so long I developed a hunt and peck system where I don't have to look at the keyboard but still type with my index fingers
Does typing faster actually help with anything? I would think a lot of software writing is like general engineering - that is, it's dependent on your ability to understand and solve a problem using tools (concepts, theory, etc) you've learned and may learn through research, not in getting the solution written down quickly.
But that may just be because I can barely crack 70 wpm on a 5 minute test with like 80% accuracy.
>>58640347
Not really, no
>>58640347
Depends how much you have to type, it helps typing long essays but with code your usually think and do it piece by piece.
>i thought i was fast
>am slower than op
i-i might n-need a new keyboard
>>58640347
If you're a data entry bitch it will help.
/g/ standard for typing? I write with indexfingers at 95 wpm.
>69WPM
>Can't touch type
Meh, could be worse
>>58640326
>12 wpm
Did they get a heat attack a few seconds in?
how does someone at this level keep improving? i've stagnated.
>>58640423
just place your fingers in the middle line of the keyboard, thumbs on space. enter with foremost fingers of the right hand. don't lift the fingers, just slide them over the keys lightly and press them. do that until you stop having the urge to peck the keys.
>>58640380
I get a few points less than that with one of those newer office keyboards that give you the joy of a chiclets at your fingers but saves you from the peril of a modern processor or a screen of resolutions that aren't at a weird 5:4 ratio.
A bit rusty tbqh
tfw you're retarded
tbf, typing random words without context as fast as possible is dumb
Done on some POS dell keyboard.
>>58640493
you need to be thinking ahead, or in typing tests you need to be reading ahead of what you're typing.
>>58640516
Touch typing sucks ass specially if your hands are bit weird
>>58640802
I used to only type at 83 wpm but I didn't touch type. I have been touch typing for about 3 months now
