Did the same. Riced all through highschool and college and concluded that it's a waste of time, even more so than vidya or anime. I've been on a stock Fedora install for a few years now, feels professional and I actually get meaningful dev work done instead of fucking with configs.

Ricing just seemed like a giant waste of time. Most I've ever done is change the theme on my Ubuntu installs from light to dark. Not for the 1337 haxor look, but to save my eyes. Turned the task bar to auto hide. Installed docky (also on autohide) and I change my background once a month or when I'm bored.
Why anyone wastes their time autistically changing fonts, color schemes , custom configs for every single window is beyond me.

Ricing is fine, as long as you don't go overboard. it's OK to spend a few hours putting together a theme, but once you get into changing distros/DEs and fucking around with special configs you've gone to the point where theming your shit has taken priority over doing actual work.
