Nvidia shield k1 ain't bad at $200, don't know what you consider cheap. Build quality isn't great (screen cracked easily on my first one but Amazon replaced for free) so a thick case is probably a good idea if you can't treat it gently. It's the closest thing I've found to a modern nexus 7 in this market.

Pros:
Nice form factor
Decent performance
Ui is close to stock Android
Not much bloatware
Pretty good speakers

Cons:
Sub par build quality
One of the nvidia apps puts an ad in my notifications occasionally

Some are rooted, but has no root manager (like superuser/supersu). You can just install it from the store.

Picked up my Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.1 during holidays for $170 (seriously).

This thing is fucking amazing; almost too good. I rarely use either my Mac or PC for general internet/email anymore. I see why desktop sales are plummeting now.
