If I were to get a Logitech M570 trackball, could I replace the blue ball with a red ball from the Logitech Trackman Marble? It'd only be for aesthetic purposes, so it's not a deal breaker if I can't. Using a regular mouse is killing my wrist.

Also, is there a better trackball for the price (~$25)?

I have a bare git repo in my apache webserver in /var/www/html/git/project1.git

but when I run git clone http://192.168.1.4/git/project1.git it spits this out

A quick google search tells me After Effects is good for exactly what it's name implies, adding after effects to a completed video. It has barebones video editing features, so you're better off with Premier if you want to stick with Adobe.

Posted this last thread when it was about to 404.

Could someone with linux please cross-compile this Cthulhu horror roguelike game for windows-users like myself and upload it somewhere? It's not terribly big. No one gives a fuck in the /vg/ threads where you'd expect someone would, and /v/ is out of the question. Please. I love you long time. This isn't really a question, more like a request, but I figured if someone have linux and wasn't a complete cunt, it'd be someone here.

I have a problem finding a good algorithm/way of doing the following task in mysql/PHP.

>User presses "random share"
>5 different users are picked out of the database randomly
>Every of the 5 users gets the item OP shared
>Every user who got the item can press "random share" again, so that 5 different random users get the item.

Here's the problem: The shared item should, under no circumstance, come back to any user who shared it already. I thought about creating a cache-table which contains the userID and the itemID they got, so I can randomly generate 5 users to be picked out, and check the table if the picked out users got the item already. If not, it will start to pick out 5 users again, and so on and so on until 5 users who do not have the item are picked out.

The problem is, if I have 10.000 users and 9.995 already have the item, it will take a shitload of time to randomly pick the excact 5 users who don't have the item. Any suggestion on how I can do this?

Yeah. You also should have had a backup of anything you cared about all along. Forget about running windows until you have one. Boot either linux or winPE to back up the files you care most about, then run a full image with a macrium reflect disk. You could also stick the drive in another PC. But the situation is grim

Download a live CD image from a different computer to a flash drive, boot from the flash drive.

In the future, if this happens again don't do an image backup, just do the important files. Use the rule of two: two is one, and one is none. If you only have it in one place, you don't have it at all.

Open a terminal, type "crontab -e" (without the double quotes) and press enter. Type the following line, substituting the full path of the application you wish to run for the one shown below, into the editor:

45 04 * * * /usr/bin/updatedb

Save your changes and exit the editor.

Crontab will let you know if you made any mistakes. The crontab will be installed and begin running if there are no errors. That's it. You now have a cronjob setup to run updatedb, which updates the slocate database, every morning at 4:45.

Really? What mobile phone do you have? The following works on iphone.

From Drive on your phone in the management, you can chose an account or + Add account. Add an account, use more options to create a new one, enter your name/birthday/email then you get to the Add phone step, you can skip that. Then you get to the privacy statement. Confirm, set up and done.

From andriod: +Add account, Google, New, name, password, recovery password, google services, create account, authenticate/captcha, and you're done..

You can download windows 10 directly from Microsoft. I wouldn't recommend pirating an OS though. Why not try Linux if you don't want to pay for anything??
>>

You can get 10 for free from Windows without a key. You just get a watermark you can't remove in the desktop if you use that without activating a license but you still get full use of it otherwise. It's botnet but if you want windows it's free. Otherwise linux is always free and won't spy on you but it's horrible game support and lack of some easy to use programs turns people away.

You basically ignored the SD card entirely. You are currently attempting to repair errors on your hard drive. This usually a good thing, although if your drive is very close to dying from a mechanical error, there is a chance this could kill the drive before you get a chance to recover your data.

Then in PHP using the n number of users in your first result... generate 5 random unique values i from 0...n users.

Run same query again, use offset i, limit 1 for each i

Sounds like you just ignored your sd card entirely and booted up windows like normal. You could try briefly doing a drive check in windows, or you could go back to the slightly safer option of booting an alternative OS. I went into boot manager, or whatever it's called. There was only one option, and it sent me into that recovery thing. I wasn't entirely sure what I was doing.
The fan usually makes this rough, loud noise similar to a vacuum cleaner or a truck revving. Right now, it made a smooth, soft-ish noise similar to a tiny spinny thing, like a dentist drill. It sounded like something that would gravely hurt you if you touched it even lightly. The other day when it was loud, it sounded like a barber's razor. No beeps.

If this "boot manager" page listed the option as "windows" something, then that's probably not the right page. We're talking about something that comes up before that. Also your laptop might not consider SD cards bootable at all. If it doesn't show up in bios OR when you bring up the proper boot menus list of drives, you probably won't be able to boot linux or winPE until you find a flashdrive or CD/DVD.

There are ways to proceed in windows if it's just sector failure or some other issue with your system, but if it's actually a problem with the spinning mechancial parts, then it's potentially riskier proceeding that way.

IRC is an old web chat system. A public key is something that anyone can use to encrypt a message so that only the key's owner can decrypt it (using the corresponding private key). There's a trust system that revolves around pairing your personal or online identity to one of these keys, so that people can be sure the public key represents you. It becomes a guarantee that a message or file was created by you. You can then vouch for someone else's key if you've met them in person or have a strong reason to trust that the key's owner is who they say they are. That way anyone who trusts you can trust by extension the keys you've signed. So the comic is just saying he fucked up and vouched for someone he doesn't know.

That is the right menu. What it's saying is that your SD card is not a boot option at all. It's only listing your hard drive (the 8gb SSHD is just the name of your hard drive, because it's a hybrid).

Being quieter isn't a bad sign, but it's no guarantee. Usually it doesn't hurt to have windows on long enough to run crystaldisk, but that's your call.

If you're looking for a dynamic mic I'd upgrade to the ATR-2100. It's a way better mic, used all over the industry, comes with full USB and XLR compatibility and all the accessories except foam cover.

https://www.amazon.com/Audio-Technica-ATR2100-USB-Cardioid-Dynamic-Microphone/dp/B004QJOZS4

The Blu mics are a different kind of mic altogether. Condenser mics like the snowball pick up a wider range of sound and capture nuances better, but they're way more picky about interference and background noise.

That microphone costs more than the entire setup that I have listed here, let alone the single mic, for what I'm doing, from what I've heard from reviews and samples, this should be just fine.
I'm mostly asking out of compatibility/better value reasons.
I'd be using this microphones for voice overs, sample recording, and general use, and compared to the blue snowball, the snowball has way too much background noise to be that appealing to me.
>>
>>58613746
The Neewer setup on Amazon for like $35 is great, you'll just have to increase the gain for the mic as it is condenser microphone.

The bonus to this though, is later on (or for a little extra now) you can get a phantom power supply and an XLR cable and it'll be way better for a good price.

source: I own it personally and have seen many reviews over the product as a budget mic.

It does cost more. I suggested it because you mentioned $50 and for a little stretch the 2100 is great quality and sturdiness. I call that better value. After that you should be able to go back to the search and bring up a program called GSsmartControl. Then you should be able to click your way through running tests on it.

https://mintguide.org/tools/630-gsmartcontrol-hdd-and-ssd-smart-health-inspection-tool.html

I should point out though that none of this is strictly necessary, because it's just running a test to help determine if your drive is fucked, which you could probably figure out easier from within windows. It can't actually fix anything. So what we're really want to accomplish here is just copying your most important files over to the external. You can do that a lot like you would in windows, just by clicking on the "computer" icon, finding your "C:" drive and copying over to the external (they'll have different names, judge them by the size and content). If they don't appear in "computer" we may have to take a couple extra steps to mount them.

>>

No. It's not like the drive would "cool down" from being turned off. The point was to minimize the amount of time and use the drive had before you get a chance to back up your files. Now that you're ready to do that, there's nothing for it but to dive in and get it done, regardless of what noises it makes.

Alright.
How would I go about making a full backup once my important files are done?

You could try to backup your whole system with a Macrium Reflect Rescue USB, but if you're having issues this bad there's a good chance it would fail. If your HDD really is dying hard, it's probably a good opportunity to reinstall windows from scratch on the new drive.

ps. if anyone is trying to do the same and having trouble, i had to do a few things to make it work

- actually read the build instructions and get the rl_utils submodule, that helps
- compilation failed for me initially with "atan2 was not declared in this scope", fixed(?) it by adding "#include "math.h"" at the top of rl_utils/src/direction.cpp
- linking failed due to differences in where SDL libraries are stored on my distro (arch) and the developers' (mint), change the makefile so these lines look like this;
SDL_BASE_DIR            = /usr
SDL_DIR = $(SDL_BASE_DIR)
SDL_IMAGE_DIR = $(SDL_BASE_DIR)
SDL_MIXER_DIR = $(SDL_BASE_DIR)

- also i changed these so it used 64bit mingw, though not required
SDL_ARCH                = x86_64-w64-mingw32
windows-cross-compile-release: CXX = x86_64-w64-mingw32-g++
>>
>>58614886
When terminal doesn't work it can be a little hard to pin down why. I'd try the original command again (hit up arrow to scroll through things you've typed), then make sure you can access the internet. If you downloaded an old version of mint that could be the issue.

>>
>>58615071
Maybe. Honestly it doesn't matter very much. Just copy what you're gonna copy. The rest is just diagnosing the drive, and if windows has been messing up and linux isn't then that's probably it. When you're done copying and if you're not too worried about getting a complete system backup, go ahead and let windows repair itself, then you can run crystaldiskinfo if you want to confirm it's the drive. If it comes up red or yellow, it's boned. If it comes up green then I'd still keep everything backed up, but there's a vague chance that windows' files just need to be fixed and your drive just happens to be noisy as fuck now.

Anyways, if you don't know how big the file is beforehand, you obviously cannot allocate some static amount of memory and have it guaranteed to be big enough for all of the integers in the file. Roll your own vector if you have to.
>>
>>58615191
I'd say the top one. It has more reallocated sectors.

I'd also imagine having a larger raw value means the drive is in worse health, with 0000000000 being ideal.

>>
>>58615663
Okay, am I understanding correctly? You're trying to create an ext4 partition for both windows and Linux to use and steam on Windows is saying it's read only?

If so, that's totally normal. Windows doesn't have the ability to read and write anything but fat/fat16/fat32/vfat and NTFS out of the box and you'll need third party software to read and write to extfs. If you want a partition to share between them, use a *FAT* fs because both operating systems can read and write it natively.

If it's steam on Linux that can't read/write extfs partitions, it's being mounted as read only and you need to add it to your fstab with the 'user' flag so non-root accounts can read and write
>>
>>58615799
I'm having the problem with Linux steam, I'll try the fstab thing and see how it goes, thank you!

Will it remove stuttering or anything like that or is it really just loading?
>>
>>58616473
>stuttering
In games you mean ? Possibly, like loading textures etc
In general SSDs are great even if you're not actually in need of faster times literally everywhere, fuck a 128gb SATA3 SSD are like 30-40$, not that much at all, while in exchange you get near instant boot times(the most noticable is that you can run anything just as soon as you see the desktop, instead of waiting for all the programs that run on boot to load up, every program you have also loads instantly, no wait for those load times, everything just seems to run so fucking fast like you just bought some kind of magic worth of 500$,l but it's actually just a small SSD
They don't cost that much as they used to, there's no reason to not own one
If you're not convinced, try putting an SSD into your older relatives(father mother etc) laptop or PC, they will notice it and say you "fixed" their computer
SSDs are especially nice in laptops, less weight, less noise, more battery time, extremely resilient to fall damage, positioning(try watching a movie on a bus with storage protection in Thinkpads(if they feel change of direction they slow down, resulting in tearing))

>>58616530

>>58616571
Not that informed on the innards of SSDs, but basically anything from a company you've heard of will do fine, don't buy Kingston though, did a bait and switch on their SSDs once, they don't deserve money from their SSDs anymore
Protip: if your motherboard has m.2 slot, it would save you two cables, if you care about that
When you buy the SSD you will have to reinstall your windows on it and basically all the programs to it too(haven't run out with 128gb even with shit for university like AutoCAD, VS and similar)
Another protip: if you install steam on SSD(you should), change the game installation directory to HDD, because by default they will install in the steam directory
>>
>>58616571
>>58616613

With SSDs newer is better. They get a lot more structural improvements than HDDs over time. You don't have to reinstall windows, you can just clone it and re-run the hardware check.

>>58616661
No, I've done it plenty of times. And cloning program worth a shit will verify the drive cloned perfectly. From there it's trivial for windows to adjust to being on an SSD. No sweat.
>>
>>58616886
Basically yeah, you will sooner change it because it's become too old to fit your needs rather than it dying
