Software these days earns money in subscription-based system. You are not paying for software itself but for a support that you get with it.
For any company it's a choice between setting up whole division dedicated for that piece of software or have professionals one call away.
This kind of support is impossible for home uses. Imagine amount of phonecalls you'd get because someone rm -rf / since someone over internet told him to.
Microsoft gets away with their current model just because we were not used to this kind of service.
