You need the right tools. I use mozilla mail but would like to try mh. Also I really, really need a way of annotating received mail. Ther eis a RFC but it hasn't been implemented. And the attempt by KMail does not count, that is the worst email client ever. Avoid at all cost.

I only leave stuff that I need to take care or postpone or solve in the next week on my inbox, as soon as it gets resolved I just delete or archive with proper tags/folder.
I fucking dread to ask sometimes to another person to search shit on their emails and seeing they have 2k or more mails in their inbox and no system and the best part this people is the same that tend to send emails without a proper subject so the whole thing is a big clusterfuck if you need something as soon as possible.
