To customize it to your liking. There is a middle ground between feature phones and smart phones to be found. It is an untapped market.

They're almost fully customizable because of the thousands of OS hacks around, and the UI is written in XML or smth

Why do you think Lumia 520 was so fucking popular? Two reasons, it was fucking cheap and it was cheap.
At $30 Nokia had a slab with a surprisingly good camera for the price. Had they infused a dumbphone with that good of a camera or better it would sell just as good, there is a market for a dumbphone with good camera and wifi, sonim XP5 style.
