Does anyone know about networking?
I'm having trouble making picrelated to work, Does anybody have any ideas?
Here is basically what I did
s0:
Vlan 10,20
etherchannel 1(and trunking)
placed PC port into access mode
s1:
Vlan 10,20
etherchannel 2(and trunking)
placed PC port into access mode
Multiplayer switch:
Enabled ip routing
made interfaces using
interface vlan 10 and writing appropriate IP's
turned each side of etherchannel into trunks(using encapsulation dot1Q first)
But I can't get PC's to ping each other
The ICBM ping gets stuck at L3 switch.
bump, nobody whom I've asked seems to be able to figure it out
have you already tried if it works without trunking?
Honestly I've never used trunking. Also what do you mean by the L3 switch?
Do the PC's each have their default gateway set to the vlan10/20 (respectively) addresses that are on the multilayer switch ?
Are the VLAN interfaces up/up on the multilayer switch (show int vlan 10). They might have to be 'no shut' depending on the platform and IOS defaults.

Replying to myself with some other ideas and questions:
Do vlan 10 and 20 exist (not the interfaces, the vlans themselves) on the multilayer switch ?
What does 'show ip route connected' and 'show ip arp' give you on the multilayer switch ?
I guess my final piece of advice is to take this a step at a time. Go end to end and make sure layer2 is working (check spanning tree, switchport, etc). Then move on to layer3. Don't get ahead of yourself - you will typical start on a goose chase.

There's a few quotes from networking books on typeracer, so yes, I'm more or less an expert.
