the GTX 610 is a rebrand of the GTX 520 which had the same performance as the GTX 420. There was no GTX 300 series. It was also rebranded as the GTX 705. Incase you don't know what that means, they put a new sticker on it and called it a day.

Something good to remember is there was no GTX 270, instead the GTX 260 Core 216 (which you pictured) was made to match the HD4870, which outperformed the original GTX 260 for $100 less ($300 vs $400), two weeks after the GTX 260 launched. Properly named it should be the GTX 270 but w/e

GTX 260/216 is on par with with the GTX 460 SE, which is on par with the GTX 555 (which was sorta a rebrand of the 460 SE), which is on par with the GT 640, which is on par with the GT 740 (rebrand of GT 640)

Nvidia hasn't bothered making any cards of that tier since then. Not sure why, it's a decent sized market and the GTX 700 series is sorely out of date.

If I had to give a ratio of performance, probably about a quarter as capable.
>>
>>58570117
shit wait. are they actually on par with one another and will I not be able to upgrade my PC much further because of my motherboard reastrictions and my port size?
>>
>>58570156
>>58570284
Oh, a good thing to remember. Those numbers are completely arbitrary and have no actual bearing on performance.

The GT 625 is weaker than the GT 620, which has the same performance but half the memory bus as the GT 630. Unless the GT 630 is the GK208 variant which is just a downclocked GT 635. Theres also the GT 645 which outperforms the GT 650.

In summary, it's a mess.
>>
>>58570332
Nah, your board is highly likely to be PCI-E 2.0, which will take PCI-E 3.0 cards fine. PCI-E 3.0 is the same thing but supports double the bandwidth, so PCI-E 3.0 x8 = PCI-E 2.0 x16. Currently no single card uses up that much bandwidth. Whats your processor?
>>
>>58570368
I have an intel duo core @3.00ghz
>>
>>58570445
Ouch, thats pretty old. That's gonna bottleneck you on most stuff.

Anyways, not the best of times to buy CPU's currently, AMD's new line launches in a month and should cut prices down across the board.

You poor or got access to actual income?
>>
>>58570461
I have income I just wanted to avoid revamping my whole comp for some games I never got around to playing.

but ya I feel like basically anything for under 100 dollars could practically double my computer's power in power
>>
>>58570505
counting the CPU with the graphics card that is

>>58570505
$64 for doubling the processor alone at current prices probably. Your GPU is good enough that it'd take $85 to double it. CPU is 2006 tech, GPU is 2008 tech.

The problem is, all of your shit is so outdated that you can't use anything except probably your harddrive and case. I wouldn't trust a 2008 PSU much longer, but that'd be usable as well. You'd have to buy a new motherboard and ram.
>>
>>58570560
yep I figured that much.

but how is it not possible to still have an upgrade with a 2GB video card and like a refurbished quad core, when mine is like 850MB
>>
>>58570284

Oh boy was Nvidia shady at their shit.

I remember, the 8800GT being rebranded as the 9800GT, then as the 150OEM, then as the 240, then as the OEM GT 330, then as the GT 440 or GTS 450 and finally as the GT 545 also OEM.

From that point on it has been weird...

>>58570594
Oh well yeah sure you could buy some Yorkfield Core 2 Quad; but thats just pouring more money into an old hole. At some point the capacitors on your motherboard are going to fail, and putting more load onto them ain't gonna help with that. Your hardware is old mang.

Also memory is a red herring, a bunch of people see "oh 2gb" and conflate that with, "that means it's good". That $85 GPU I mentioned has 2gb of memory, but it's actually capable of using that much. Bottlenecks my mang.

>>58570653
nah, GTX 400's had no rebrands actually. Rest is totally true.

Yeah most games these days can be maxed out at 1920x1080 with top end GPU's from 2013/2014.

Target resolutions are 2560x1440, 3840x2160, and 1920x1080 at 144hz (vs your 60hz). Remember resolution increases are exponential for render difficulty.

Heres a good reference image. Note 8k isn't consumer available yet.

Are you that seriously retarded that you think SIZE Is a relevant comparison point? Especially between cards of ridiculously different ages?

... Wow.

I'm honestly tempted to recommend you buy a console, but you probably don't even have the money to buy the games for it.

With such a shitty CPU, there's no point in buying a new GPU. There's DOUBLY no point in buying a fucking awful GPU like the 610 - Just because 610 is a higher number than 260 doesn't mean it's faster retard, you're comparing a bottom of the barrel card of today with a decent GPU of 8 years ago - Both are shit.

Save up some proper(!) cash first, then look up some builds on craigslist or ebay or whatever they have in your third world shithole (in my case, Australia, so Gumtree.) and see if you can't snipe a decent deal. With any luck you'll manage to buy a PC that isn't 8 years behind the curve.
>>
>>58570060
>>58570720
it's office gpu. you can process excel sheet on it, nothing more, your 260 beats it in every department
