pic related...what I've got my eye on atm

2x8 Crucial RAM, because it was the cheapest shit available at the time.
>>

16 isn't exactly the cheap route though
any suggestions on a nice middle ground
>>

2 x 8gb 1333mhz HyperX Blu.

It's okay, but I wish I could get a 1600mhz kit just to utilize my mobo's capped speed.

IDC about how it looked tho although the newer HyperX Fury has some nice and simple heat spreaders.
>>
Registered ECC.

I always use workstation class hardware.
>>
>>58554614
is there any real difference between workstation and gaming hardware
other than aesthetics that is
>>
>>58555164
ECC is glorious considering what it is.
sadly they jack up the price to such stupid levels it's only worth getting if bought off someone elses money (company you work for pays for pc etc)
>>
Literally whatever is the cheapest non-shit ram you can get. No difference in performance.

>ECC is glorious considering what it is.
ECC is what RAM should be.
The stuff I used to work with on mini-computers had 22-bits for each byte. The extras were for Error Check Correction. It could correct single-bit errors and detect double-bit errors.
Very handy when cosmic rays can re-write SRAM. The minis used SRAM for speed.
Normal parity can only detect single-bit errors and completely misses double-bit errors.

I have 30GB of RAM if anyone wants it.

Maybe should've gotten 1600ers. But dont feel the downside yet. Maybe never will.
>>
>>58556666
Hell, it's been 2 hours and no one else has, so I'll ask. What kind, and what did you want for it? Can't hurt to check, got a friend who only just this week updated to 64-bit and only has 4GB, I like surprising him with upgrades so we can still play things together.
>>
>>58555372
And the prices for DRAM are not looking good for the current year. Fucking Samsung and Hynix

The prices have gone apeshit.
2 days after I bought that RAM kit of mine, the price jumped up about 70€
It's now 110€ more expensive than when I bought it.
This year is going to be fucking insane regarding RAM and SSD prices.
It's probably going to be 2 years until the prices drop back down to what they were.

Will we ever see RAM prices crash like they did back in 2013?

Tfw I bought 8gb of Corsair DDR3 1600mhz RAM for £25 back then.

Unless you're number crunching like a scifag, what does it even matter anymore? OMG MY CAS IS 1 NM FASTER THAN YOURS! CPUs and system RAM aren't even close to bottlenecks anymore with regards to gaming.

Correction: 1 NS ** not NM
>>
>>58554614

Ah, so you want to pay significantly more for no real gain for workstation purposes? ECC RAM exists because loonies think solar flares are going produce solar radiation that will penetrate the atmosphere, datacenter walls, and server enclosures to flip a single bit on a RAM chip.

In some games, the difference between sub 2000Mhz RAM and ~3000Mhz is about as big as moving from 1060 to 1070.

>ECC RAM exists because loonies think solar flares are going produce solar radiation that will penetrate the atmosphere, datacenter walls, and server enclosures to flip a single bit on a RAM chip.
ECC RAM exists because the rate of bit flips goes up significantly when you have terabytes of it running 24/7, moron

Has anyone had an issue with this ram not being found by the motherboard? If its a pain in the ass to get seated, I keep getting qcode error ram not found. Its working right now, but touching the ram at all is very worrisome now.

32GB DDR4-2400mhz CL14. Corsair vengeance low profile. Black like my soul color.

I originally went with 16GB if DDR-3400mhz but it was picky. The PC wouldn't boot and kept giving me a BSOD. XMP didn't work and neither did manually setting the ram speed or timings, or even upping the voltage to a whopping 1.5v, up from the stock 1.35v.

Crucial Ballistix Tactical DDR3L 2*4 and 2*8 in my main rig (i7-6700K)
Crucial Ballistix Tactical DDR3 4*4 in my second rig (i3-3250)
The RAM was pretty cheap at the time i was buying it (paid €70 for the 2*8 kit)
>>
Aeneon and Corsair DDR2 RAM

fuck yes
>>
Within last two months I had been asked to diagnose two PCs that had died. And both owners just left them with me after learning that the CPU was the issue in one case and motherboard in the other.

So I did what every self-respecting jew would have done and scavenged the RAM from those boxes, upgraded my 6GB desktop to 12GB.

I now run:
* six sticks of 2GB;
* by three different manufacturers;
* with wildly different timings;
* five of them are regular, one - low profile.

Lightroom works faster.

My old 98 machine had RDRAM. 512 MBS is all you need.
