hey /g/, I own a old MacBook a1181 that I put Lubuntu on to take to school. however I have a monitor at home to connect to this laptop but don't have the cable to connect it yet. if I were to purchase the cable would it automatically display my laptop screen onto my monitor, or is it not that easy. sorry I don't know too much about Linux or what to do with it; I just needed to use this piece of junk for engineering classes. thanks
You have to install xrander
It should work out of the box, maybe press F7 to switch display out modes.

Install arandr if it doesn't automatically connect. It's a GUI frontend for xrandr
