does anyone actually have the phone in OP's picture?

if so how good is it?

camera?
DAC?
lagginess?
>>
>>58542440
I'm running the pro version, pretty much same SoC but more RAM and better camera and stuff.

There is absolutely no lag at all.
>>
>>58542542
The normal version is going for under $200, so I was considering it.

How much more is the pro version?
>>
>>58542580
https://www.kimovil.com/en/where-to-buy-zuk-z2-pro4gb-64gb
>>
>>58542580
Pro version isn't as value as the regular. iirc it's almost twice as expensive.

Main differences I could tell online are:
>AMOLED screen in pro
>metal bumper on pro
>more ram and storage in pro
>faster storage and usb 3.1 in pro
>better camera in pro
>slightly bigger screen and smaller battery in pro
>rollcage (shock absorber in pro)
>health and fitness gimmicks in pro

But the regular is still giving you a flagship phone with cut down screen and camera so it's the best value SD820 phone on the market right now.

I paid 480 aud for mine while the regular zuk is around 260 aud.
>>

wtf is this
$100-$200 more than whatever the regular version is being sold at

Pro version has f1.8 aperture,
Regular has f2.2 aperture,

Pro version has 6GB RAM
Regular version has 4GB RAM

Pro version has 5.2 inches SAMOLED
Regular version has 5.0 inches LTPS IPS

Pro version has 3100mAh battery
Regular version has 3500mAh battery

Pro version has 3.1 USB-C
Regular version has 2.0 USB-C
>>
>>58542641

I should know, I'm using one.
>>

Sony's X and Z compact series. Almost everything else under 5" has very low-end specs. Low end as in "don't buy this crap" not "budget".
>>
>>58542670
I wish it could record 1440p to be honest.

I have a 1440p monitor but nothing 4k to watch 4k videos on, so I feel like it's just a waste of space.

I tried Open camera, a lot of camera options like HDR are missing on my phone. It's not really an issue since I've got 128GB storage, Just my personal autism.

It's a shame, I don't think I've seen any phone that can do 1440p video recording yet, most are 1080p60fps or 4k30fps.

>>58542723
Why would you need a custom rom? Is MIUI really that bad?

Maybe you should have invested in a device that ships with better software like the zuk? Really liking zui so far, it's a nice change from the stock android on my Nexus 5.

Sorry, meant under 4.5". In the 4.6" to 4.9" there's some serviceable stuff released this year with at least 1.5GB of RAM like the Galaxy A3 and maybe some midrangers from 2015 but under that size you're starting to compromise basic funcionality if you want something beyond a whatsapp machine, as you'll be most likely stuck with 1GB of RAM, very small storage and no 4G connectivity.

IDC about CPUs and RAM, my shitty old 2013 phone is fast enough. I care about size/weight/ergonomics/build quality/camera/heat managament... the Sony compacts don't excell at that.
>>
>>58542915
Well, Sony is a guarantee for good camera and heat management in the XC is ace because they're no longer shoving a 8xx series Snapdragon in there, while the 650 doesn't overheat at all. It's also polycarbonate instead of glass so you get something infinitely more durable.

>>Why would you need a custom rom? Is MIUI really that bad?

because it's the only way you will be able to get updates. bar nexus, moto and 1+ phones, you can't rely on any other company to keep support. other reason is because it's fun to try new roms.

miui isn't bad either, good optimisation for the most part, it just can't compete with most custom launchers or cm theme engine.
>>
>>58542987
Idk anon, z1, z2, and z2 pro are getting Nougat in roughly one week.

A lot of companies still have their phones on Marshmallow, or Lollipop (I'm looking at you ZTE).

>>
Does anyone here have experience with UMI phones? They look very nice
>>
>>58543076
Not sure about headphone audio, I use Bluetooth earphones for mine. I've tried my Sony headphones a few times (mdr-zx310) and it sounds pretty standard compared to my Nexus 5, but I'm no audiophile.

Okay, things I don't like.

when the device gets hot, like when charging + downloading something, the front and back glass don't get very warm but the metal bumper gets very hot. This doesn't happen very often though since it requires the battery to be charging, wifi to be downloading a large file, and cpu under load.

In zui, the battery graph and ram usage are in developer options for God knows what reason.

Phone supports qc3.0 but I didn't get a qc3.0 wall adapter with mine.

And that's all I can think off of the top of my head right now.

The glass on the back is really grippy so it's not going to slip from your hand even when almost vertical so it's great using it around the house with no case on.

>>58543126
Are you high?
>>
>>58543216
not too bad then, why are there so few reviews for this phone?
>>
>>58543216
Thanks for the info anon. I could live with those issues. Seems the only really glaring thing is the camera. But it can't be worse than the ZTE Axon 7, right?

Where do you guys think is the best place to buy the Z2 from?

>>
>>58543375

>>58543291
Because the non pro model is more popular for the value it offers, I think. You can't really beat a Snapdragon 820 with 4GB ram, type c, 64GB storage, and a 5" screen for only $180.

>>58543448
Idk anon. I'm not saying this is better than xiaomi or that Xiaomi sucks, I'm just saying that I'm a happy Zuk Z2 pro user. I'm sure there's lots of people happy with their Xiaomi devices too. Also don't forget that Xiaomi is much more established than Zuk.
>>
>>58543448
Because, even if it's shilled to hell and back, Xiaomi at least has a proven track record, releases quality products for their price, support their phones with updates and at the very least you'll get ROMs from Xiaomi.eu while ZUK is only popular since a bunch of shills invaded this board and so far the only reviews I've seen that didn't read like an infocomercial slam it for a extremely poor software OOTB
>>
>>58543597

Screen size? Any must-have feature? I guess your best starting point is the gsmarena phone finder. Put the following filters:

- Year: 2016
- OS: Android
- OS version: check 6.0 and upwards
- RAM: minimum 2GB (to browse internet confortably)

And then start cross-checking the results with stuff locally available at your country. At your budget level it's complicated to go wrong. Take also into account the iPhone SE is absolutely anemic at 16GB internal storage, and comically small at this point, especially to type confortably.
>>
>>58543985
You might find internet browsing more comfortable on a larger screen but other than that it's a great phone.

Guys I moved from my old Android (Jelly Bean) to a lollipop version. I know since kitkat Google stopped programs from writing to the sd card.

Anyways my problem.

I used to plug my old phone into my pc at work and play my songs through windows media player, when I plugged in the new one it is not allowing me to drag and drop or select all and hit enter. I have to double clip ONE song and play that one song.

How do I drag and drop my songs from my phone into WMP? Is there a m3u program that would allow me to make playlists from my phone to use?
>>
>>58546101
Depends, with the G4+ i'd suggest unlocking it and using a custom rom ASAP since on stock it overheats causing screen burn-in, and ResurrectionRemix lets you underclock to avoid said problem, it also enables the hidden LED to use for notifications and charging, in stock it's disabled unless you root and use a third party app to enable it only when charging.

It's a very solid phone right out of the box mind you, and most models already have nougat, but it really shines if you put a bit of work into it.
>>
Has anyone SIM unlocked their galaxy s7 from a third party place? My carrier is firm on their $50 fee and that is way too much for a simple code.
>>
>>58545974
Bump your budget to 600 and get the Oneplus 3T.

Otherwise get an older flagship, like a Galaxy S6.
>>
I've got an old iPhone 4(?) which I have no idea what to do with it.

I wanted to test the new chatsecure but it needs iOS 8 and this only goes up to 7.
So I am open for ideas on what to do with it.
>>
>>58547252
App2SD, move everything to the sd card and tell it to save and write everything to it, it's not letting you drag them to a playlist because it's all in the phones internal storage, also WMP is pure shit get a decent player like foobar or musicbee, it might fix your problem without messing with your phone

I don't really understand what the problem is with it being too big. I gotta admit I only visit XDA sporadically to get my LineageOS or RR ROM and get the hell our of there, but some people apparently like to try tens of different ROMs.

Most of this mess would be fixed if every ROM had a good website (like CM used to have).

Also, why are poeple complaining about copying when copying is pretty much what making ROMs is about?

ZTE blade v6 is my phone
>>
>>58549801
Doesn't work since jelly bean.
>>
>>58552671
Nope, ZTE Zmax Pro or Moto G4 Play are your only choices if you want something recent for that price, just be warned that since the ZTE uses the same SoC as the Moto G4 it will overheat on games and 1080p videos, the G4 Play won't since it uses a weaker snapdragon (410).

>6" 1080p, 2 RAM/32 ROM, Snapdragon617, 3400 mAh, type C, fingerprint scanner/compass/gyrometer

VS

>5" 720p, 2 RAM/16 ROM, Snapdragon410, 2800 mAh removable, microUSB, stock android

SoT should be even on both because of the resolution (6-7 hours) but the Zmax has a lot more gimmicks than the G4P and type C is more comfy, but the G4P has a removable battery (maybe a zerolemon battery in the future) and is guaranteed to get more third party support since it's a budget motorola phone, in fact it already has official builds of resurrection remix N and AOKP.

I'd go for the Zmax if you don't mind it overheating, being huge and not getting as many roms as the other for when ZTE eventually abandons it, if it hasn't already by now.
>>
>>58552862
Gapless means songs play one after the other without pauses, like a CD.

Also the equalizer depends on your earbuds/speakers, try them both and see which one is better, iirc blackplayer equalizer is good for nigbass and metal.

It has a 5.5" display compared to the 5" of the Z2. It has a maximum brightness of 450 nits compared to 400 nits of the Z2 which means you can see the screen better on the RN3P under direct sunlight. The RN3P has a viewing angle of 178 degrees which means you can see it clearly from the side, while this is not supported by the screen of the Z2.

According to devicespecifications website, the ZuK Z2 shows audio results that are very slightly better than the average smartphone while the RN3P shows very good audio results.

Plus the battery and SoC combo gives the RN3P around 9-10hrs Screen On Time while the Zuk Z2 has around 6-7hrs.

There's the Meizu M5 Note. I think you can find it even cheaper than the z2, but it might have an even worse camera.

>>58555589
Great build quality and OS. Way overpriced. Cheapest it ever got was $499.

Hey everyone, would need some buying advice:

Kinda have to go with tmobile as a carrier, since i have a decent old plan and around 160€ worth of money if i take one of their phones with a 24 month extension of the plan (17€/Month).
Here is what they offer:
Huawei nova
Huawei P9 (+130€ extra)
Huawei P9 lite (+ 0€ extra, kinda leaning towards getting the P9 or the lite so far)
Huawei P9 Plus (+324€)
Samsung Galaxy J5 (2016, +0€)
Samsung Galaxy S7 (+252€)
LG G5 SE (+84€)
And a bunch of other crap i think.
But yeah, watched a couple of comparison videos, especially about the P9 and lite, but still cant really decide. Maybe some of you here have any ideas or suggestions for me, would be very appreciated!

Also: is the P9 worth the extra +130€ over the P9 lite?

Hey gang. S6 Edge user here. I've loved this phone since I got it around the time it came out, but one thing irks me: the battery life is absolutely shit. I'm a musician, and if I try to stream one 45 minute set on Periscope, it kills my phone. Every time I go out bar hopping with friends, by the end of the night my phone is dying and I have to put it in power save mode. Is there any kind of battery pack or something worth buying for the S6? Also, if I were to upgrade, is there anything with similar technical abilities but a battery life that doesn't totally suck my balls? Thanks.

http://www.gizchina.com/2017/01/19/xiaomi-redmi-note-4-india-specifications-price/

I'm thinking of getting the ZuK Z2 but since this came up, I'll buy this instead.
>>
>>58556866
At that price I'm not impressed with the SD625. May as well get the redmi 4 for 50 dollars cheaper.
>>
>>58556982
Only idiots won't get impressed with the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 SD Edition.
>>
>>58556866
That's still on for pricey side compared to the zuk...

Only real advantage it seems to have is battery life and even then the Zuk z2 already gets 8 hours which would last regular people a couple of days.
>>
>>58556996
It offers nothing impressive. Only an idiotic fanboy would find it impressive.
>>
How do I know if my battery is worn out or how long it has before it totally dies? It's a Nexus 6 so I couldn't replace it anyway but I would like some kind of warning before it dies.

The sensor just says Good in CPU-Z. Does it actually warn you near death?
>>
>>58557108
No
>>
>>58557258
Then what's the point of the faggot sensor
>>
>>58557317
It's for temperature and if the battery is unhealthy.

Healthy!=reduced capacity
>>
>>58557008
It has better display than ZuK, it has better suppoort not to mention better audio quality, you know, the stuff that matters. Also might have better camera than ZUK
>>
>>58557326
What constitutes being unhealthy for a battery? And isn't being near death the same as being unhealthy?
>>
>>58557398
>better audio quality
>better display
Source on that?

>>58557410
Reduced capacity doesn't mean near death. Lithium ions can really take some abuse.

Not sure what unhealthy means exactly though

Will Mi 6 be waterproof? Have had an S5 mini for two years or so now and I literally can't live without the protection.

I keep hearing people saying that CM is buggy, which Nougat ROM should I go for then?
>>

>is the P9 worth the extra +130€ over the P9 lite?

if anyone could answer me this one, i'd be very happy. Need a new one asap, since my old one stopped working yesterday.
>>
>>58556505
Why not Huawei Nova?
>>
>>58557677
costs an extra +80€, forgot to write that. and wasnt that much better than the lite from what ive seen? or well, for +120 i can already get a P9, which is why i asked.

latest snapshot available on cm13 only so yes newest cm14 is unstable.

redmi note 4 already available in your country ? or you need to import them ? from benchmark gsmarena test redmi note 4 seems have better battery life for web browsing.

Are you a construction drone? Do you do mining? Do you travel to remote areas?
Why do you need a waterproof, dustproof, shockproof, slipproof, dropproof phone?
>>
>>58558733

I'm neither of those things, I'm just a shameless ruggedization fetishist with no particular demands for bleeding edge performance.
>>
bought x compact, satisfied.
>>
>>58555589
Wonderful device. Just wish it had an AMOLED display instead of LCD. Best phone HTC has ever made but since they're so inept a times they priced it $100-120 more than the competition so it wasn't a big hit and everyone just bought the S7
>>
>>58544542
Is that what you tell yourself?
>>

This

It's also much more comfortable than the previous Z bricks, but the design is still pretty stupid because of muh idealistic design concepts

is there any chink phones that I can add to the list to compare to the Z Max for this price range?

>>
>>58559841
well I didn't test it on mine but yes the videos on yt show a weak hit with a butter knife chips the paint off. You need a case and it a bit slipery so I would have bought one anyways and the size is still fine
>>
Get a 3T now or wait for more Oneplus 4 news/rumours?
>>
>>58560114
I just don't like the glossy plastic. I might buy the z5 c and the xc and send the one back I don't like in the end.

How is batterylife? Audio? Camera?
>>
>>58560276
well I switched over from a 3 year old xperia so it's a dream to me. Recharge it every 2-3 days, I just use it for news, audiobooks and social media. Has a decent stereo pair of speakers, the headphones is what I use. Camera is alright too, better you read the reviews regarding that.

I was thinking of Z5c but felt stupid buying last years phone.
>>
>>58556505

About to switch to T-Mobile from Sprint because I'm tired of shitty cdma phones.

I'm also tired of Android, but I have zero interest in an iPhone because I can't stand apple products, so I'm thinking about switching to Windows 10 mobile since there's nothing I do on my Android phone (LG G4) that I wouldn't be able to do on Windows 10 mobile.

So what do you guys think is the best w10 phone right now? I'm leaning toward the Alcatel Idol 4S though I have no real interest in VR so I doubt I'll ever use the included headset... But I like the phone's specs. Is there a better phone for w10?

The notification management is shit, i.e. notifications are not bundled/grouped or expandable and therefore also missing actions. Lock screen only shows one notification. I hope they fix this in Nougat.

I'm at the end of my fucking rope here.

I bought an Android tablet for my grandparents a year ago and it's one the worst decisions of my life. All this time there's been some shit going on with it at least once a week.

I set up lincucks for my mom 2 years ago and it's worked like a charm, the grandparents think a laptop is too "complicated".

Is an Ipad better for the completely tech illiterate?
>>
What lockscreen app is best for note devices?
I'm currently using Echo but it disables screen off note taking which is a nogo for me.
I just want a customizable lockscreen to get rid of this touchwizz shit.
>inb4 just use xposed
I can't root because reasons.
>>
>>58562323
which linux would you recommend for tech illiterate
>>
>>58562323
Yes it's great for the illiterate because you actually can't fuck it up. Heck, you can even create a childs account for them to prevent them from fucking with shit.

Don't know why you would ever buy an android tablet anyways. Even for the tech literate, they're fucking abysmal.

>>58561592
I don't think most manufacturers actually have nougat yet.
>>
>>58562395

Ubuntu, everything works out of the box with minimal setup.

>>58562406

As you can see here, modern long-live li-ion batteries will be around 70% after 200 cycles. That's around the number of cycles I do in a year (charging every 1.5 day or so).

So I just change the battery in my phone once every year. They are usually around $10 on aliexpress anyway (if you have a flagship).
>>
>>58561247
>there's always something
Well, yeah. There has to be something at those prices and most people don't care about nfc
>>
>>58562406
I disagree about Android tablets being shit for tech literate people. I've had 3 iPads and fucking hated them, but I kept hoping they'd get better and didn't want to just give up. Then I got a free LG G Pad 7" tablet in a giveaway that I entered and didn't expect to win, and it's been fucking great. Rooted it without needing to unlock the bootloader, removed the LG bloatware, and I rarely use my laptop anymore. I got a folding case with a Bluetooth keyboard, and found out it had a SIM card slot so I got a cheap prepaid data-only SIM and now I have internet everywhere. It's perfect for Netflix, Hulu, prime video, IRC, taking notes in class, and I haven't found one thing that it can't do that my laptop can besides video games, which I don't play anyway.
>>
>>58562323
