1070 doesn't have a huge inflated price. It might come down 20-30 dollars after an AMD competitor but unlikely to be much more, go ahead if you don't want to wait 5-6 months.

Not sure if you're memeing but that'd be the worst decision you can make right now. Always buy the best single card you can, there's countless issues that might arise from having multi-card setups and games/programs need to be optimized to support it anyway.

Also Vega is almost here, if you want high-end AMD the waiting meme is actually finally almost over, for real this time.

What's your use case? Unless you're playing high-refresh rate 1440p games the 1070 will be a waste. The RX 480 and GTX 1060 can play most 1440p games on high/ultra at 60 and most 1080p games at higher refresh rates.

If you don't want to support Nvidia the RX 480 might be the best choice, unless you want high end stuff in which case wait for the 1080 Ti or Vega cards to come out. The 1070 is really only useful for 1440p 144hz games as it's not quite to powerful enough to play 4k at 60 and the GTX 1080 is stronger but also not enough for 4k.
