It's one of those threads again. Guys I need some help in finding some resources for Programming concepts. Everybody keeps telling me that it's best to learn the concept first rather than learning a language, I've started getting some books in C and Java, but what I don't understand is these "concepts" everybody keeps talking about, is it like a rulebook or something? like a format on the proper way to code? I don't know where to start or look if somebody tells me about code structure, correct syntax, maintenance, etc. Is there any book that I should read first before learning a language?
Have you read your SICP today?

No but I've heard of this before, I was thinking of buying it in Amazon/eBay but I was unsure if it was the right one, is this the only one I need? Should I get the 2nd version?

first, and solve problems from https://projecteuler.net/archives
Since you don't know any languages, write out how you'd find the solutions step by step in English. Once you become proficient at developing algorithms you can pick up any book that claims to teach you a language and follow along with success.

Thanks for the resources senpai.
By the way, what's /g/ opinion on MIT's video courses? Has it helped you in your studies or would it be better to start focusing first on the books?
