Nothing went wrong. That's just how it goes. At some point we gotta dump old technologies because we can't develop them any further. That's why the Radio is practically dead. Something is going to replace current transistor technology.

cant be helped. when the government stops investing into R&D companies turn into stagnating wastes of space

normal fags like smart phones so they are being developed

>>

you're seriously not giving the enthusiast rigs of the 2007-2009 era enough credit

>>Widescreen was a luxury and most people used 1024×768 CRTs or 1280×1024 LCDs

1680x1050 was the poor mans 1920x1080/1200, people were of course using up to 2560x1440 or similar resolutions, 4k was even available (if extremely rare and pricey, but nobody was gaming on it so you don't hear about it)

if you're going to talk about the 8800gtx (which would have cost about the same as a decent 1680x1050, average 1920x1200 lcd monitor) don't talk about poorfags stuck on 1024x768 or 720p

>The best GPU was
>>8800 GTX
>An integrated Intel GPU outperforms it

sli/crossfire was FAR more common back then, and this is in an era were crysis set the benchmark for graphic fidelity of games that the hardware of the era couldn't run on max, nowadays every other game won't run well on even the best single card setup maxed out on 1440p

a single 8800gtx/8800 ultra would run most games maxed out at 1680x1050 and run most games at 1920x1200 on medium and still achieve close to 60fps average, dual or triple sli would play most games maxed out at 1920x1200 (but not 60fps on a few games), a tri sli 8800 ultra would run crysis on high settings at 1920x1200 with about 30fps average

to give you some perspective, it took until about the gtx 970, released just 2 years ago, before a single card setup could run crysis maxed out at 1920x1080 (not 1920x1200 which was far more common back in 2007-2008) and maintain 65~fps average in the benchmarks

hardware in 2007 was dire but the games were dire, the benchmarking game was crysis and everything else was expected to run well on a single card setup on both 1680x1050 and 1920x1200 and if it didn't it better be a good looking (for the time) aaa release and you'd still likely achieve 60fps if you drop some settings, aa, and filtering

the rest of it I agree with, phones and touchscreens were dire until about 2010-2011
>>
>>58482407
The thing is the number of enthusiasts back then was much smaller.

All the late 80 early 90 kids were teens and had no money.

They suffered the poor fag life of the 00s

Then they well full retard like me and got a 1080 with a Ultra Wide 1440p and HTC Vive for shits n giggles
>>
When do we already dump the sicilium wafers?

We won't see any big performance jumps anymore anyways.

It's a dead end.

2020?

What you need to understand is that Silicon started a long time ago. Took trillions of dollars to get to this stage.

They made graphene and gallium nitride (GaN) and and such processors but they're on par with shit from the 80s/90s...

tech impaired anon here, care to enlighten me about graphics card please? Certain parts of your post piqued my interest, specifically where - if I understood you correctly, you implied a single graphics card isn't enough in a gaming rig?
Also the part where you said even on the best rigs, games won't run well, care to elaborate on that?

We got Vue.js 2.x in 2016.
Vue.js is literally the jQuery of SPAs and it even works perfectly without the whole npm/node.js build tool circus.

i don't care anon i will be 22 this year and still havent started a family. what is wrong with me.
>>
>>58481678
I agree with hardware development in respect to CPUs, only somewhat marginal gains. Compare 2003 => 2010 and the difference is mind blowing.

GPUs on the other hand have seen decent performance improvements.

I disagree with web development, we now have node, npm, React, etc. It's completely different than I first started which was just "learn jQuery".

Smartphones have got so much better it's not even funny. The phone I was using in 2010 was a HTC Droid Incredible (the first one), which was running android 2.0. I have an iPhone 7 now, but the performance difference between them is orders of magnitude different.

Sure, the West has become more decadent with all the nonsense movements, mobs and internet news a la Twitter&Co.
>>
>>58483392
my dad was in such a relationship (15 year old difference) and my mom cheapted on him multiple times. i don't know the details (i was 5 years old during that time) but i assume that the age difference was a big factor.
>>
>>58483486
If you are so old that you can't get your dick up anymore, yeah that's a problem
>>
>>58481678
As a software engineer I say this is great news.
Maybe now people will finally start to pay attention to program size and execution speed instead of waiting until the next generation of hardware makes their shitty todo-app run at more than 10 FPS.

Imagine all the attention Algorithms and data structures would get if there was zero new hardware for 10 years.
>>
>>58481678
Smartphones aren't really developing any more. You can buy any half-decent phone from 2014 and it will still do a good job.
