You haven't failed me in tech recommendations yet! Good routers for $100? Online reviews are pretty bad for everything. Must be because plebs can't connect them properly.

TP Link
Or find a used Archer C3150. I just bought one, its fucking amazing, but a bit over $200
$100 is basically the cut off point between low end and mid-range.
$130-150 gets you a LOT more than $80-100.
That being said, the Asus RT-N66U with Tomato is my personal choice for under $100.

OP here. Networking is not my thing. We can do up to $150. Also guess I'll go back and browse the mid-range models.

RT-AC68P with DD-WRT is my personal fav.
Fast 1000mhz CPU, 256MB RAM, and 128MB flash memory.
has the most advanced hardware without spending $250+ on the fancy AC3100 routers.
I have a Mikrotik RB951G-2HnD and I love it.

Do you need a stronger wireless signal?
Do you want to hook up a external HD to the router, and make a network drive?
