That's what I meant. Typing, which is obviously a file search of apps. It's retarded to spend the time typing several letters each time when you have an obviously better interface for that "bring up the icons -> click an icon".

Don't get me wrong, I do see a point for that auto-search feature introduced lately. But it's, mainly useful for seldom used software.

Instead of

Most of the time you don't even look at the results on the start menu, cause it will already be what you're searching, you think, you type, the only step required is to press start which is a common button, very automatic.
And don't make me think that typing is hard, with my thinkpad on the so called "new shitty keyboard" i'm around 95 to 105wpm, typing "Photoshop" takes less than a half a sec and you can just type "phot" to find it

Besides, I don't have to scan my desktop to find an icon, because I know where everything is by memory. That's the point of desktop icons. It's very fast and easy to simply double click once to open whatever I want. It's literally a lower number of actions than a keyboard search.

I use my desktop like a desktop, i just leave there folders i'm working on or files I'm currently using, once I'm done I archive them. My taskbar has just Firefox and explorer icons and I can reach the rest via start.
Sounds like autism but I just do it cause I don't want to lose time finding things I want to use through things I don't use.
