So what does /g/ think about the best Linux Distro there is
Elementary OS
You misspelled Fedora
>>58414701
it's fine. i installed it on the thinkpad i gave to my 13 year old daughter.
>>58414701
why use a cheap imitation when you could use the real thing
>>58414701
Shitty interface oriented distros always have problems, anybody with half a brain will install something with proper support instead and install the interface from there.
>>58414719
This.
Best Unity theme?
I'm tired of Numix.
>>58414745
Well actually I can't because hardware support is abysmal and I don't want to have to go through troubleshooting mess every 3 months, nor overpaying for mediocre hardware.
hmu when they get over being cunts & actually dominate the OS scene through support 2bh
>>58414745
The eOS devs run it on MacBooks.. If they wanted to, they could just run MacOS
There's a reason it exists, other than just looking like MacOS

I love the distro for some things (eg it's fast on old hardware, looks nice, has good defaults, etc), but good lord, I have so many random problems, and I'm on a Thinkpad. Waking up from suspend often makes buttons randomly fuck up or appear completely black, logging in sometimes takes several minutes, putting itself into suspend oftentimes takes minutes too (not a problem because SSD, but still), and despite how lightweight the DE is, I pretty often get shit battery life even with TLP on it, too. Basically there's stuff to like about Elementary, but clean and bug-free it is not.
>>58414701
Security is about at good as Mint. Pure garbage.
>>58414701
It's not very good, it's just Ubuntu with more bugs
And also, what's even the point of Elementary OS? What separates it from other Linux distros? The look? You can achieve the exact same look on a more stable Linux distro by just installing GNOME and a custom dock.

Elementary OS is a "Desktop Environment" in a much purer sense than most other DE's.
It's built to be as seamless as possible between pantheon applications.
There was a great talk on Lunduke's youtube channel with lead developers of eOS, Unity, and KDE, and they explained what the strong points of their DE's were and why certain users picked them over other DE's.
>>58414701
It has a nice DE but everything else is pretty shit.
>>58414701
Last time I tried ElementaryOS it was buggy as fuck. Is that still the case?
>>58414701
I tried to like it, I gave it a chance. It was just too buggy on my system.
I really prefer Antergos.
>>58414789
Numix orange.
>>58414701
It looks and functions like a Chinese knock-off of Mac OS.
If you're looking for the most dumbed-down distro possible to put on your 80-year-old grandmother's computer, then I guess it's alright.
>>58415455
Current EoS user here, can confirm. However, its not as bad as the anons say
>>58415390
It's literally Great Value macOS aka skinned GNOME
>>58414789
Numix Square
Paper
>>58414701
Is it good for coding?
>>58414719
Fedora on my friends Laptop could not run Android Studio.
