I am going to University to study video game, design and production. For my coursework I need a laptop with a nvidia gpu (the university courses use nvidia frameworks) however I don't need a powerful GPU.
I would ideally like a cheap relatively good quality laptop with a low tier nvidia gpu.
Any recommendations from my fellow /g/entoomen ?

Wow. Someone else who has the same major as me. Though I believe we are using XNA exclusively here.

Come on, anon, does anyone actually achieve that?

You might as well build an ITX form factor desktop and bring that. Laptops are turrible.

My friend did and I always thought he was crazy for wasting his teenage years being a virgin nerd but then I realized I did too, but now I have no high-paying vidya job to show for it

dell xps is magic, and with the thunderbolt port, you can use an external gpu

Go with a Dell Inspiron 17r SE. It's got an i7, Nvidia gt 650m, mine has 16gb ram, ssd, great screen, and I've had it for 2 years with no complaints. Inb4 gayming laptop, it's actually pretty fucking sweet.

You want to design video games but you don't even know enough about computers to pick your own?
This is like some kid saying he wants to be a race car engineer but can't even change his oil on his Honda Civic.

Try finding some cheap laptop with a 940M, if you're really poor, go down to a 7-series and you should still be fine.
Also. your course is literally meme, why didn't you choose something like CS?
