HEY! so maingear forgot to connect my ssd drive when they sent me my pc build last year, and being a dumb fag I just kept using my HDD for everything. Now, I want to install windows 10 on the ssd and transfer my apps and games to it. I've downloaded the windows installer on a flash drive, and am attempting to install it fresh on the ssd but am running into problems. CAN YOU GUYS HELP ME?!

beyond the sarcasm, is this the correct place to ask this question?
>>58409495
Go to the stupid questions thread /sqt/
You're an idiot for buying a pre-built.

Unplug HDD
Install Windows on SSD
Plug HDD back in

Did you even read the sticky? /g/ is not your tech support.

eh, I would say that It's still a better option than being a consolefag, but so far maingear has been stellar. No complaints besides them not hooking up the ssd from the start.. but yeah, my buddy who builds his own told me the same thing so I get it.

There’s not sarcasm you fucking idiot.

Right now I've got windows installer on a flash drive, hdd is unplugged, and i'm confused on whether to do an "upgrade:install windows and keep files, settings and applications" or "custom:install windows only (advanced)"
when i try to do the upgrade, it tells me that "the computer started using the windows installation media. remove the installation media and restart your computer so that windows starts normally. then, insert the installation media and restart the upgrade. (do not select custom to perform an upgrade. custom installs a new copy of windows and deletes your programs and settings)

noted. I'd still love help though, if you can...

If your files are on the unplugged HDD why are you trying to upgrade them.

right. so I then chose the custom option, and when I choose the ssd to install to, this error appears: "windows cannot be installed to this disk. The selected disk has an MBR partition table. On EFI systems, windows can only be installed to GTP disks."
does this mean I need to reattach my HDD and go into bios, and reformat the ssd, then start the whole process over again?
