There's a lot of them and by nature of them being completely oblivious of Internet culture they're visible.

You find stackoverflow questions answered by people with intimate knowledge of the Linux kernel who point out flaws in documentation, while using smileys in their responses.

It's very jarring and it's probably why you notice them. Aside from the fact that their screen names are very distinctive like 'ElephantGodBePraised1337' that's why.

They're all very polite though. I appreciate it. But I get the sense most (not all) are there to just 'get past' whatever they're learning. Their school system is rather problematic in this and I find this one bloke who talked about it in depth. It's rather troubling. Apparently large portions of promising students drop out for various reasons and turn to crime.
