THANK YOU BASED INTEL

AYYMD IS FINISHED & BANKRUPT
>>
still wishing for a cpu from either intel or amd to be worth upgrading over my 3750k

>1.44v
>Having to buy a 50 USD cooler for a dual core CPU that already costs 170 USD

For what purpose?
Not even in comparison to AMD but where does the price/perf of this thing fit into intel's current line up?
The cost scaling (~85 USD per core) matches their high end offerings for price/perf of the unlocked i7.
Wouldn't you get better overall performance just buying a lower clocked i5?

I'm really confused about the appeal of this product.

The time has now come!

Wasn't this the expected result?
>>
>>58385706
Yeah my 6600 was like $200 and it scores around a 600 on Cinebench.

This thing is a fucking ripoff even more than usual.

>>58385796

kek

>14nm

This shit will be dead in a month.
>>
>>58385859
Locked 6600 with a b150 Mobo is ~$250, and can force turbo to 3.6GHz on all cores.

Unlocked 6600K with a z170 Mobo is $320 + $30 for a decent cooler. Just to get to 4.5GHz.

($250/$350) 71% of the price, for (4.5GHz/3.6GHz ) for over 80% of the performance.

Overclocking with Intel isn't viable, might as well just get a high tiered CPU with a locked multiplier. z series is too expensive.
>>
>>58385679
m.2 is worth the upgrade alone.
>>
>>58385911
how?
>>
>2017
>dual core

Enjoy your dips to 20 fps
>>
>>58385894
I feel like the only people that won with going OC from the start were the 2500k/2600k group that are still clinging onto their rigs. Maybe the same will be true for devils canyon here knowing kaby lake hasn't brought much to the table.
>>
>>58385938
Size, speed?

>tfw doing a new build
>tfw it turns out I get better performance OCing my 2500k over getting a new i5
>>
>>58386008
>SATA III IOPS
no, thanks. I'd rather buy more ram
>>
>>58386022
Yeah that's the way things seem to be lately. Sadly, short of buying a GPU that costs more than your entire build you're almost always going to be GPU bound until you go to 4k.
>>
>>58386060
Kinda regret cheaping out on my GPU since I discovered this.
>>
>>58386074
Don't be. Graphics cards are the parts that both age the fastest and are the easiest to upgrade.

Cheaping out on the CPU to get underpowered crap like an i3 would be regrettable however.
>>
>>58385650
Who the hell buys an "Unlocked" and dual core Intel chip in current year?
>>
>>58385650

>dual core
>clocks the same as a quad.

wtf lol
>>
>>58385714

oh lol, 7350k just became fucking irrelevant.

thats just terrible for intelshills
>>
>he didn't get a 6400 and a z170
>he doesn't know locked skylake can oc
There are still retards in these days and times.
>>
>>58385650
>BCLK overclock doesn't exist
Might as well stock to Celerons.
>>
>>58385952
yeah or 3770k same socket better ipc
>>
>>58385883
1.52v is the maximum for skylake according to intel, so it should be the same here. Still, 1.44v is really pushing it for 24/7 usage.
>>
>>58386022
No you don't
>>
>>58385894
1.35 for 4.8 on muh 6600k. I'm not sure what you mean by "not viable"

Megahertz is lie

Apple proved it in the 1980s

Thats cool, I can cherry pick also. I just find it sad you don't have the income to buy a new pc after 6 years. Also:

Should I post encoding or cinebench next?

>Decide to build rig for doing GPGPU compute and other HPC stuff in 2014
>Don't need all that much in terms of single threaded CPU horsepower as the CPU side software is going to be heavily multithreaded anyway and I'm going to be doing multi-GPU GPGPU work (so cheapo motherboards are out of the question)
>Being a student and rather cheap I start to look at second hand parts, primarily 2500k type hardware
>Second hand 2500k:s are so expensive you might as well go for a new CPU due to how badly Intel has stagnated over the last few years
>Settle on an i7 950 as LGA 1366 motherboards universally support multiple GPUs and with it's 8 physical threads it's got plenty of CPU grunt when properly utilized
>Figure that Intel is going to de-stagnate in the near future and that they're going to start making gains like they used to
>Because of this buy badly overspecced DDR3 RAM thinking that I'm going to re-use the RAM for a future upgrade
>Over 2 years later I'm still rocking the same CPU, mobo and RAM
>Only real upgrades I've made are the GPU and SSD
>Closest I've come to utilizing that RAM properly is using it at 1600MHz (machine gets unstable at 1866MHz)
Well done Intel... Wasted loads of good money on that RAM you never gave me an opportunity to utilize properly and I'm now going to have to try to pawn off on someone else when I upgrade to Zen (cause fuck you).
>>
>>58388151
Income isn't an issue, but why spend so much more for such little improvement?

Getting 60 fps easily across the board right now so upgrading everything just doesn't make any sense.
Besides I'll still be able to reuse the AIO cooler and GPU in the future when upgrading does make more sense, preferably when 4k becomes viable at a lower cost. Which, with all the money I saved by not spending so much for minor improvements, I will feel more comfortable to spend in the future for my upgrades.
Also if you're trying to say you need a 6600k or anything newer for encoding or workstation use, buying old sandy bridge xeons is always going to be more effective. You can pick up a dual cpu system with 16 cores for ~400 off ebay right now that would BTFO any newer rig at that price. But, I mainly would use the PC for gaming anyways so the higher "real benchmarks" aren't really applicable to me.
>>
>>58385650
>2 cores
Intel is finished and bankrupt
>>
>>58387963
AIO coolers are a waste of time. Cheaper AIOs are the same price as high end air coolers, don't cool as well, and are more noisy.
>>
>>58385650
>2 cores

lel my 2500k does 5ghz

fucking cucks
>>
>>58388426
Depends on the circumstances.
An AIO can perform much better than an air cooler when you have less case airflow, meaning less fans overall. When people test AIO vs air, they commonly test outside of a case which is rather dishonest because a water cooler ejects all the waste heat directly outside of your case, unlike an air cooler which can cycle it back in if you have poor airflow. My 240mm rad with a push/pull running at low RPM is practically whisper quiet even under load.
>>
>>58388479
No it doesn't
>>
there is no point buying a dualcore for gaming desktop in the year 2017. most games use 1.5/2 cores and you need atleast one extra core left for the operating system so if you have a dualcore one of those cores have to handle the game and all the backround stuff so the performance will be always lower in comparison to a quadcore with similiar architecture

yes it does.

jew.
>>

I guess so but I'd take a few degrees of warmth over the increased noise of AIOs.
