Why were people so upset about Nvidia's CES presentation? It's obvious they weren't going to introduce anything new GPU wise because they just launched new products. Nvidia has been known to go into other fields for a while now. They are just broadening their horizons. I don't see anything wrong with that. They are no longer just a graphics company. They've reached towards AI and other types of computing. And CES is a technology conference. It's not a gaming or Computer conference so I don't see why you would expect them to talk about GPUs and gaming.

I think it's pretty neat. Not a huge fan of self driving cars, but I'm curious to see how AI turn out.

I don't know about people, but I'm not expecting nvidia to release anything interesting until summer.
And no, a 1080Ti would not qualify as interesting.
They are scared out of their minds because of Vega.
AMD built a brand new ultra efficient architecture that will carry them for years to come and it scales up in performance amazingly well.
Vega at the top end is going to drive 4K Ultra at 120FPS and smash the TitanXP and 1080ti
Their next revisions after this will be focused on 5K and 8K performance.
The end goal for AMD is to build GPUs powerful enough to run a 16k VR headset with HDR running at 240 FPS
