question to /g/ makers. Is there any open-source (software) switch or router you know of?
I'm trying to buy a switch that I can easily edit it's software. I know openwrt and ddwrt but they are hacks I am looking for something completely free to begin with

Some routers natively support both.
If you want something open get one of those routers or build a low power intel machine with pf sense or something

Since this thread exists anyway does someone now of a cheap managed switch that uses an open source cli about as good as Mikrotik?
