What constitutes low or high end? What if I want a PC with a slow CPU but tons of storage because I just use it for hoarding anime? What if I need a very fast PC with nothing but a small SSD because I just use it for muh gaymes? What if I'm a programmer and I want a PC with a fast CPU, lots of RAM, and an SSD, but integrated graphics?

"low end pc" means literally low end pc. Probably a second-hand sandy bridge based PC... which i would OC to heaven and upgrade with other second-hand based components. And multiple monitors setup with... guess what.... SECOND HANDED monitors.

As for the "eReader", switching completely to epub books would save me money and space.

Assuming I had no tech at all, I'd get:

$1- Low end tablet
$1- Low end phone
$5- High end PC
$1- Peripherals for the PC

The $1k PC would be the most important part, since I'd be doing heavy work on it, then a $200 phone because I don't need more than what you can buy today for that amount, and the same goes for the cheap tablet, which I would use for entertainmemt and for the lighter parts of my work, so I don't spend all day sitting at a desk.
I now have $200 left, which would go to some cheap mouse and keyboard, then the best screen I can afford with what's left.

That's if I never leave the house.
If I had to bring my computer around to work away from home I'd get:

$1- Phone
$5- Laptop
$2- Upgrades for laptop

The laptop here would replace the tablet, and I'd get one with a good CPU but little RAM and no SSD, so I could use the remaining $400 to add some ram, put an SSD in, and get an external enclosure so I can use the old drive as an external one for backups and what not. Plus a cheap mouse if the trackpad isn't good.

Spend the rest on computer parts, 800$ for a PC is fine, keep room for eventual upgrade.

I have a Samsung A3, for 240$, everything above is just wasted money. The only function my phone does not have is a gyroscope, for when I want to play PokemonGo or some other crappy App.
The first PC i owned was a Laptop, but I never used is for Laptop stuff, it turned into a regular Desktop PC, so I bought a normal Tower PC and I am happy, will not miss my laptop.

Actually what I do IRL, except with Vhighend PC. The way I see it is a laptop is just to hold me over when I can't use my PC and it's more likely to get dropped/ amaged/ stolen, so splurging on a lappy is dumb.

All I use my phone for is calls/ texts/ gps, fancy phones are nigger tier.
