>48G cables enable up to 48Gbps bandwidth for uncompressed HDMI 2.1 feature support including 8K video with HDR. The cable is backwards compatible with earlier versions of the HDMI Specification and can be used with existing HDMI devices.
IT'S HAPPENING

oh boy
>inb4 companies charge hundreds of dollars for what will effectively be a couple ethernet cables wound together

>DisplayPort has had this for ages.
Fuck this proprietary shit. It's disgusting that HDMI is more renowned than DP.
Televisions and input devices need to start supporting DisplayPort because I want adaptive sync on my TV when the Playstation 5 comes out.
HDMI can fuck off.

cables and panels aren't the problem. internet bandwith is.
an 8k movie would be like 200gb unless you compress it to shit.
>8k
that's dumb, the human eye can't even see that many pixels.
>>58321742
>they still cant crack HDMI 2.0 HDCP 2.2
>>58321742
I would love an 8k monitor for around $300-$500 in the future but don't really care about having 8k content. Then I'll finally get near the same pixel density available in a 5.5 inch 1080p phone.

Graphics cards come with more DPs than HDMI ports. For example AMD RX 480 has 3 DP and 1 HDMI out. Most new monitors have at least one DP.

So?
We got cheap 10TB HDDs and 60TB SSDs today.

Who gives a shit about HDCP 2.2. We need UltraHD blurays cracked as soon as possible.
>>58324231
a fully uncompressed file would be much more than 200gb
>tfw no 30" 8k

I just want 8k @ 36 bpp @ 120 Hz in 40-45", then I'm probably good for monitors until holograms or neutral jacks or whatever come out.
