When can we expect the announcement that this video player has stopped development?
What alternatives do we have?
>>58318989
It works perfectly, what would you like more form a player?
>>58318989
Late 2016.
https://nightly.mpc-hc.org/
>>58318989
install mpv
>>58318989
will they ever port mpc-hc to Linux. mpv is okay but i miss the old UI.
>>58318989
It's literally feature complete and bug free, what is your problem?
Use MPV if you want buggy alpha software
>>58319025
It would be reasonably trivial to cobble together a mpc-hc style ui for MPV.
Is this something people are interested in?
>>58319010
This.
>>58319015
And this.
>>58319204
>t would be reasonably trivial to cobble together a mpc-hc style ui for MPV.
why has nobody done it yet?
>>58319025
>will they ever port mpc-hc to Linux
It uses DirectShow. What purpose would there possibly be for freetards?
>>58319015
this
>>58319367
Goes against fundamental design principles of mpv. Not much interest.
I'd look into it though if there's interest.
>>58318989
It's been VLC for me ever since I started using Linux as my desktop.
>>58319454
>It's been VLC for me
sad
>>58319454
>VLC
>on anything
F A I L
i already transfer to MPC masterrace
because it's good
>>58319712
>mpv
>>58319204
>>58319367
There is one:
https://github.com/cmdrkotori/mpc-qt
I don't think it's stable/finished yet and there are no release builds. It seems like most libmpv clients are either feature limited (gnome-mpv) or incomplete (mochi-player, mpc-qt) at the moment.

RIP MPC

And it will be updated soon when AV1 comes out
>>58320882
>better
>doesn't support linked mkvs like memepv
>>58321736
>And it will be updated soon when AV1 comes out
you wish
>>58321780
The fact that they are pushing nightlies proves that they are still developing it, as soon as something major like a new codec supported by literally everyone comes out they will release a stable
>>58321815
They are way behind with LAV Filters. Enjoy.
>>58318989
Something over a year ago. So what? It's not that much.
>>58319423
>Goes against fundamental design principles of mpv.
One just based on their egos:
>If madshi can write a back end and have a major project fall over themselves wanting to integrate it, the same should happen for mpv!
Still waiting for it, eh?
>>58319454
Best player. When you want to sit down and watch a fucking movie, not spend time tweaking a bunch of settings that nerds will orgasm over.
>>58320882
No subs, either.
>>58322079
I don't have to tweak anything with mpv or mpc-hc
>>58322122
what are you trying to play?
>>58321765
Can someone actually provide a sample of linked mkvs? Never seen one in my life. Ordered chapters - yes, but not the linked one.

I always knew mpc-hc users were poor.
mpv has always been better
>>58319030
>Use MPV if you want buggy alpha software
poor bait
>>58322079
You configure settings once and they stay there forever. Your post is as dumb as people who think Arch is difficult to use.
>>58323118
You wanted it 1920x1200 fullscreen?

Last time it was updated was like 10 days ago

Hello
Is Mplayer/SMplayer any good nowadays (for GNU/Linux that is?)
>>58325417
Just watch films in terminal
>>58325417
no.
we use mpv
>>58325389
damn!! do you think my i5 2400 could run that?
>>58325700
I actually tried to play it on few CPUs, including 2400.
Without hardware acceleration, 2400 and some i5 from 4600 couldn't play it. 100% CPU usage and lost frames. My i7 4770 plays it with no issues and 60% CPU usage.
However, with graphic card that has HEVC Hi10p acceleration, I had no problem playing it on even haswell i3 CPU. With GTX950, i3's usage was around 5%.
The only cards that I know of that support it are GTX950, GTX960, and all of GTX1000 cards. No idea about radeons though.
>>58325826
would a 750 ti be able to do it?
>>58326297
No. But some GTX750 could.

Also, have a look here. Basically you need a GPU with at least feature set F.

Nice neet codec pack

You know that they literally updated the nightly less than 2 weeks ago? Learn yourself something, retarded MPV shill.
what media player do professionals use? is there something objectively better than the ones offered for free?
