You can always deny permissions if you want, look in the security app it's fairly comprehensive. I'd imagine the gallery app requests access to contacts so that you can share images with them, it's nothing nefarious.

Well installing an AOSP- based custom ROM would get rid off all the Xiaomi apps but you'd lose MIUI too. There's also the xiaomi.eu ROM that's MIUI but with some of the bloat removed (and some other improvements too)

Rooting allows you to do stuff such as remove system apps, block ads, install a firewall to block internet access for certain apps

Can you unlock a phone if your root it? I can root my phone but there are no Custom ROMs that support it (Vodafone Smart Ultra 7).

I recently purchased an Oukitel U20 Plus which I was planning to use with my old tracfone sim. I can recieve calls and sms, but I am unable to get the 3g working, so I have no mms or data. I previously researched the network bands covered by tracfone and I should be supported on their 3g network. I think that I may have the apn settings wrong but the ones i find online dont work. Spic here, my aunt has it and its pretty decent for its price (4100 mxn on walmart) although the screen though amoled could definitely have been better, 720p is for 4.5" or 5" phones, not phablets like the J7 2016, just my opinion but i dont like the saturated colors of amoled phones either, i prefer lcd.

For example the only other phone for around the same price, the Moto G4 (4299) has the exact same specs but with a 1080p lcd panel, slightly smaller battery (3000 vs 3300 mAh) and a shitpile for a camera, the J7 is definitely better, just know that it will overheat on games and dont expect any sort of updates whether security, touchwizz or android version, samsung keeps only their flagships mantained and treats their budget lines as disposable, it might get some stable CM/RR ports in the future but dont count on them, still, my aunt has had it since may 2016 and its still pretty fast even though she bloats it with fagbook, instagram, twitter, messenger, whatsapp, some flashy lockscreen, cheetah CM cleaner (lel), ram booster and other shitty placebo and social apps like the good normalfag she is.

I would still consider some other phones like an old flagship or a imported chinkphone.

hey guys, I came here saying I was having my apps crash on me yesterday on my Xperia Z3V. well i rebooted it and it said it was optimizing all my apps, which i figured was a good thing because I had no idea why it was giving me this issue.

well now, I woke up and the phone said "unfortunately, the process com.android.phone has stopped" repeatedly and i couldnt do anything so I rebooted the phone again, and now it's in an endless loop of rebooting. This is the first time it's given me trouble, all I did was update my apps. Didn't think it would fuck my phone up this bad.

any way to save it besides a full reset? I didn't back up my pictures onto my SD card for like a week and I had some stuff on there i'd like to have.

I fucking hate the thing. It was like buying an early-access game on steam that the devs abandoned. The software is so shit. So I put the unofficial cyanogen rom on it. Performance went up, but the front facing speakers became distorted, the camera would fuck up from time to time, so many little things.
Meanwhile I'm sitting here remembering my Note 4. Perfect software, great screen, removable battery...

I am never buying a phone that isn't on cyanogen's (or lineage now) latest OS. Or doesn't let me unlock the bootloader, or has a closed battery. Has anything beat the note 4 since then?
