Why do we always see in loonix desktop screenshots that lunix is ran on a laptops in 90% cases. Is it because they actually have Windows on their main machine??

i use linux on a desktop as my only machine, ama.
>>
Most people use laptops as their main machine.
>>
I haven't really noticed that. I run it on all my machines. Two desktops, three laptops, two servers.
>>
I don't understand why people install linux onl laptops in the first place. The OSS community doesn't really care about battery usage and thus Windows usually gives much longer battery life.

this is nonsense

Hasn't been true for a long time.

Bumblebee is not installed by default in most distributions and getting a AMD equivalent is a major pain in the ass.

Not to mention that linux is the "works for me :^)" operating system. As long as a certain feature works and is not too inefficient nobody really wants to bother rewriting it, preferring to work on adding new features or fixing bugs instead.

Oh and Windows developers have focused hard on power effiency for the last years. Microsoft wants Windows to be used on phones and tablets and that requires it to be more efficient and less resource intensive.

The people that post in /bst/ aren't indicative of the general public, or even /g/. Most people don't own desktops.
