I have a suspicion that my employer put spyware on my smartphone I received as a part of benefits in my company.
How can I check if that's true or I'm just being paranoid?

What OS?
>>
>>58273864
Android.
>>
just use that phone for your job shit only, get another phone if you wanna use grindr and look at 4chan on the toilet
>>
Maybe another question.
If delete everything possible on my phone and install LineageOS then can I be 100% sure that spyware is gone if it ever was there?
>>
>>58273935
Yes
>>
>>58273939
Hopefully I won't brick it then.
>>
>>58273844
I don't understand, is this a gift or is it equipment provided by the business to do your job?
>>
>>58273880
root it and install custom rom
>>
>>58273890

This.

>>58273935

Why do you think you can do that? Isn't the phone your company's propriety?
>>
>>58274183
It's leased. Technically it belongs to the communications company.
I can install whatever I want on it.
>>
>>58274218

No. Technically, the person who pays for it monthly can.
>>
>>58274218

Just make sure to save a backup on Odin and restore it before you turn it back in.
>>
Just get a phone for yourself senpai smartphones arent even expensive and this way you dont risk getting fired.
>>
>>58274218
Your false sense of "muh privacy" goes out the fucking window as long as your employer pays for the phone. Deal with the bonnet and spyware on the company phone and buy your own personal with a different number.
>>
>>58274374
Where the fuck do you live where a company (not government) can spy on their employees OUTSIDE workplace?
>>
>>58274435
America.
I have a work phone that's paid for by my company. That phone only ever gets used for work related things. That phone is on me at all times during my normally scheduled work hours, and if I'm ever on call. Otherwise, it stays at home or the office during the weekend. I know better than to wine about privacy on said device because I'm not paying for the device or the service on it. I know even better than to do stupid non-work related things on that phone because my employer is paying for it to be used as a communications device so that I can do my fucking job. They have that right, just as I have the right to buy my own personal phone and pay for my own personal service and use that device for shitposting and porn.

They want to spy on the phone they bought/leased and pay for service on? They want to pull logs showing what sites I've visited on it or when I've used it to access corporate email or the VPN for any reason? They're within their right. If the ever start wanting to do that shit on my own personal equipment, they have no right because I paid for my personal phone and the service that goes along with it.
>>
>>58274218
>I can install whatever I want on it.
Nope, chances are you're in violation of the contract you signed when the company handed you the phone.
>>58273890 is really the best reply. Why in the fuck do you use a company phone for personal shit?
>>
factory reset it. say your phone crashes

Best posts, only responses you could want.
End of the day anon, the phone ISN'T YOURS, its theirs, but they're lending it to you so you can more effectively stay in touch with them and do the job they pay you to do.
They want full control over their device? They'll have full control over their device.

If you have a personal phone you buy yourself and a contract/sim card you pay for yourself, they'll have no right to demand to see anything from it.
>>
>>58276728
Whoops, sorry for the name, didn't mean to leave that on.
>>
>>58273844
The same thing happened to me
I woulod only use the phone during office hours and for office business. I would take the battery out of it at all other times. Eventually they started telling me they had called during out-of-office hours and started demanding my phone was on at all times. I took the phone to a specialist in phone tapping and bugging devices who showed me that the phone was being used as a bugging device and proved it to me. After that I dropped the phone in the river and pretended it had been stolen
>>
I highly doubt they care about what you do enough to install Spyware on your phone to track you. You're being paranoid/delusional

Companies don't want to look for reasons to fuck their employees over (unless you're a really shitty employee), pleading ignorance and any semblance of plausible deniability goes out the window when they start doing that shit. They want to be under the impression that everything is fine until something forces them to act or think otherwise, spying on their employees for petty shit like using social media during work hours is time consuming, costly and terrible for workplace culture/morale.

I know you guys want to think that people care so deeply about what you do because you're special or something, but literally nobody does, especially not your boss unless they're legally forced to for some reason

>delete everything On the

Gets fired.
>>
Comeon, anon. Let's hear your excuse for trying to justify your reasoning for fucking with a phone that isn't being paid for by you.
>>
For giggles I'm actually trying to come up with reasons why a company would "spy" on you;
1.) You work in a job that travels to valuable clients with expensive equipment
2.) Your job is looking for a reason to fire you so you don't collect benefits
3.) Your job is suspecting you of fraud/theft/misuse of company assets
4.) Your job is about to get much more demanding so they give you the phone first. As someone else said you might have to be on call 24/7 (don't expect a raise)
5.) Your employer might be letting people go in the future and giving cellphones now to weed out the bad ones. Who else at work is getting them?
>>
>>58273844
If it's a company issued phone they have every right to track you. You have every right to leave their phone at work and use your own.

6.) they want to keep tabs on the $700 device they just gave you
7.) they want to be able to remotely wipe any proprietary information from a device if it's lost
>>
>>58279137
I DOUBT they are giving him a valuable android phone, even if they ARE planning something maniacal they are most likely buying phones in bulk and they might get a discount if they buy the 250$ ones instead.
>>
Ask your company about its mobile device privacy policy. My employer's policy is very clear and the even install an app that explains everything. Essentially they don't spy on text messages and pictures, but will make sure your phone is secure.
>>
>>58279199
Any tech job that provides phones will pay for flag ships. I've worked for non-tech companies too, always flag ship phones.
>>
>>58279137
8.)Company information was leaked, they aren't sure who did it so they are setting up a honeypot.
9.) You googled/e-mailed the wrong thing on company computers. If you left your workstation, someone may have played a prank on you by googling/e-mailing the wrong thing.
>>
>>58274156
this is the important question, nevermind i found the reply.

>>58274218
Then neither you nor your employer owns the fucking thing. Technically the company who its being leased from can spy on you without you being able to do shit about it.

What you need to do is, stop using company phone as personal phone, its a company phone, treat it as such. Do you lack Common Sense ver.12.00 2016? You need to install some of that. You can't do shit to that phone, don't even load a single music file into it, it isn't yours.
