Everyone in this thread will tell you to do a bunch of stupid shit that won't work, like >>58273160 has already done.

When diagnosing an issue, you need to check the hardware responsible first, and then the software. If your computer is freezing up, the most likely cause of issue is a faulty HDD.

Find a PB environment, boot into it, and run a surface/sector scan on your HDD. If you have any unreadable sectors, toss the drive, get a new one, and install gentoo.
