It should be possible in principle. But it won't be as easy as it is with Veracrypt.

They way you'd go about it is to make a complete copy of your current install on a different drive (external HDD or flash drive), for instance using rsync. Then you can set up full disk encryption with dm-crypt or whatever you decide to use. Then you'd transfer the copy you made back onto the encrypted drive and set up the boot loader which will now have to decrypt the parition before the OS is loaded.

It's probably easier to just copy whatever personal files, config files etc. you have and completely re-install Linux and all programs.

I'm using QEMU, libvirt, OVMF firmware and passing through a GTX 1060 to my Windows 10 VM.

Without the card being passed through VM boot time is extremely fast.

Whenever I boot with the gfx card I'm getting a severe delay in time for the actual firmware to init.

Any ideas to help the firmware load faster? I'm using CPU pinning on cores.

What's the point of a file when terminal is superior in every way?

I want to install Ubuntu 16.04 on my GTX 1080 system. Nouveau completely shits itself and I get literally no video output. I've used Linux on servers and headless systems for years, but I don't know shit about graphics drivers and X. NVIDIA does provide official drivers, but I can't even install the OS because the installer kills itself by loading nouveau. So I figured I should stop it from loading and (hopefully) this would force it into some low-res compatibility mode. I've looked for the correct kernel parameters to disable it but I can't find anything that works or any proper documentation. I've tried nomodeset and it doesn't do shit.

Any idea what the correct kernel parameter is to switch it into some compatibility mode where nouveau won't load and disable my video output entirely?

If fucking UEFI manages to display some shit on screen with no drivers and the much older Windows 7 manages to display some shit on screen with no NVIDIA driver installed, fucking SURELY something could have been done to display SOMETHING rather than making the system completely turn off video output, right? I don't care if they run the card in standard VGA mode or whatever they have to do, completely losing video output on graphics cards which came out like 8-9 months ago is ridiculous. I don't need fancy 3D acceleration, video decoding and 4K output, just some text on the screen with a command prompt would suffice.
