>he doesn't have a standing desk

Why are you purposefully neglecting your body?
>>
comfy
>>
>he bought into standing desk meme
>>
all memes aside, my desk can be positioned for standing and sitting. I I've been standing the past week or so and have noticed my back feeling much better.
>>
>>58236305
Studies show that standing for extended periods of time are just as bad for your body as sitting for extended periods of time.

You either have to make sure to sit in intervals or stand intervals. It doesn't matter which one you do, just you need to either move around if you mostly sit, or sit if you mostly stand.

tl;dr OP is a faggot

Why are you so mentally retarded?

I stand for 9+ hours a day at work, fuck your meme desk.
>>
>>58236305
But I do have a standing desk.

The motor died so its practically stuck in the normal seated position. It takes about 30 seconds to move it an inch so I just use it like a normal desk now.

Can you link some of these studies? Not trying to disagree with you, legit curious to read them.

http://ergonomics.ucla.edu/backsafety/standing-vs-sitting-at-work.html
>To summarize the literature, neither static standing nor sitting is recommended. Each position has its advantages and disadvantages. Research indicates that constrained sitting or constrained standing are risk factors and that alternating work postures may be preferable. Alternation between two postures allows for increased rest intervals of specific body parts, and reduced potential for risk factors commonly associated with MSD development.

>Ideally, provide workers with a workstation and job tasks that allow frequent changes of working posture, including sitting, standing, and walking. If either sitting or standing is feasible but only one possible, sitting in a properly designed chair is preferable.
>>
http://ergo.human.cornell.edu/cuesitstand.html
>Sitting uses less energy than standing and it helps to stabilize the body, so we sit to perform fine motor tasks like driving, computer work, creating detailed drawings or fine micro-surgery. However, for many years ergonomists have recommended that sitting is broken up by periodic standing and moving during the day, preferably 1-2 minutes every 20 to 30 minutes. A large body of research has shown that frequent microbreaks improves levels of comfort, work performance, and reduces the risks of musculoskeletal injuries.

>Prolonged standing at work also increases the risks of varicose veins and accounts for more than one fifth of all cases of working age. So standing all day is unhealthy.

>The bottom line:
>Sit to do computer work. Sit using a height-adjustable, downward titling keyboard tray for the best work posture, then every 20 minutes stand for 8 minutes AND MOVE for 2 minutes. The absolute time isn’t critical but about every 20-30 minutes take a posture break and stand and move for a couple of minutes. Simply standing is insufficient. Movement is important to get blood circulation through the muscles. And movement is FREE! Research shows that you don’t need to do vigorous exercise (e.g. jumping jacks) to get the benefits, just walking around is sufficient. So build in a pattern of creating greater movement variety in the workplace (e.g. walk to a printer, water fountain, stand for a meeting, take the stairs, walk around the floor, park a bit further away from the building each day).

Wrong, bro. Sitting/standing shit is bad either way. Get moving, get walking, VERB! The more active you are the less damaging that shit is.

This is true.

I used to do mural painting years ago and after 8-16 hours I'd look down and see all the burst capilaries in my ankles.

Shit stays with you for life. You'll also find a lot of boumvers, security and bodyguards who do more footwork than sitting down have this as well.

>>58236560
No, what you do is stand and walk as a natural break in your tasks.
