He should have said the internet has complicated lives greatly. Because it has. Everyone is connected to an endless stream of shit every waking moment of their lives. It's not healthy.

Doesn't matter who owns them. They're machines running software that can be tampered with, either by the owners or by someone else. And unless you catch someone literally in the act, its going to be hard to prove whether or not it was actually tampered with

If you want to rig an election with paper ballots you have to go to a lot more effort, and have a brother who's the governor of the state that you need in order to win.
>>
>>58228426
google it, it is horrible. security flaws all over the place and if something won't work, they just reboot the machines or use private gear to replace something. it's like a comedy.

Technology is fucking ruining people. All of this mindless browsing on forums, twitter, facebook, etc is turning peoples' minds to mush.

Most people don't even lift their fat fucking faces from their smartphones for more than 5 minutes at a time.

It's really just sad. And it's becoming worse. Google Home so you don't have to run your home. Self driving cars so you don't have to drive your cars. And we just assume that things are 'improvements' and 'advancements'. I actually fucking enjoy driving my car, and I appreciate the fact that I have to get off my ass to turn off the lights or turn down the AC. We are getting further and further from out roots as a species. I swear people are just going to end up sitting in their fucking beds under a spell of constant overstimulation.

Despite how much technology has 'improved our lives by exponential amounts' over the past 20 years, I have no doubt in my mind that it's making people miserable. All we are turning into is zombies trapped in front of over-stimulation machines.

Future honestly looks grim. I wish we could be stuck with 80's era technology forever

We are this way because evolution made it this way. When we were first cavemen the people who survived were ADHD. Reacting to every stim was a survival tactic. Same thing as wanting fat and sugar all the time. These things are good traits as a species until we can have an unlimited amount.

Now humans eat too much fat and sugar because they were trained to do so when it was quite rare. As these people stop reproducing this overracting gene will be eased out. Same thing for people who will stimulation consumer their lives.

>We are getting further and further from out roots as a species

We've been doing that for 2 million years since we developed stone tools and fire. Tools are an inherent part of being human, without tools we're just animals. But if you feel the urge to go back to your roots then feel free to let yourself die at the age of 26 because your wisdom teeth got infected.

>self driving cars

Of all the pointless consumer shit that we've had in the last few decades, this is something actually worth having, because people are fucking retarded. Traffic jams and road accidents, drunk drivers killing people. Imagine how much more efficient things would be and how many lives would be saved if cars were driven with more than just short-term self-interest in mind.

I'd go even further and I'd be all for a benevolent robot king and judges to manage our civilization for us, because its very obvious that we're utterly shit at governing ourselves. Short term self-interest wins every time, long-term concerns are always someone else's problem. Mankind has always built tools to do what we shit at, from spears to space rockets, I don't see why we shouldn't use a tool for this particular task.

>>
>>58228005
Yep. This.

Trump's an idiot, he doesn't know what 'a computer' is. We've had computers basically since that man was born.

The Internet / Smartphone 'share everything' thing... that has made our lives horrible. Everyone thinks that this sort of 'open to everyone' lack of privacy thing is normal, and it's lead to as >>58228743 pointed out, some sort of Orwellian nightmare where the government watches everything we do and no one thinks that's weird or abnormal.

People are putting 'smart devices' in their homes with always-on microphones and cameras that call home literally every time something happens, or even when nothing happens. You know where all that data's going? To the NSA. Pretty soon they'll be arresting you for thought crimes or saying stuff they don't like inside your own home.

Attention Parents:
You know that nanny-cam that you get notifications on your smartphone from? Yeah, umm... when little Cindy is running around half-nude in your home when no one's around... guess who's watching? Some fucking fatso masturbating to it at some monitoring center. Might be in China. Might be in Virginia. Might be both. You don't know, and you have no control over it.
If that doesn't make you upset in the least, something clearly has gone wrong. The 'facebook era' of the Internet has made it so that you no longer expect privacy and decency from others. "Oh but I don't know them, they'll never bother little old me," is a lie you tell yourself to make you feel better about that your rights as an individual are slowly being stripped away.

>>58228821
Yes, it went from surfing this electronic 'wild west' to something you get on and it tells you what you want, instead of you telling it what you want. Fuck the new Internet. It may be faster, but it's 1000 times worse.

>Yeah, the same system we've had for 200 years.
Not exactly. It scales with the number of representatives but in 1911 the number of representatives was permanently locked in at 435 which limited the number of electoral votes as well. If the system worked as it was intended California would have a ton of representatives and a ton of electoral votes and California would decide every election and probably most of the policy in the country. You can argue that the representatives should be limited but what is the reasoning behind limiting the number of electors? Why should electoral vote be proportional except in certain arbitrary incidents? If we make it proportional why even have electoral votes to begin with?
>>
>>58229917
He is 70 years old, of course he does.

There should be a law that people should not be allowed to do politics above age 50. Above that they are both out of touch with the majority of voters, or they are most likely to have some sort of mental dementia; neither makes them fit to make decisions for the majority.

But for Trump specifically, I think the problem is that he is fully in control of his facilities - it's just that he is a showman primarily, and he knows that every time he farts, someone will post it on facebook or twitter. So he does more and more outrageous things because he knows it will drown out the news of him being nothing else but another scapegoat figurehead who gets the fat cheque from the jews while they do whatever they want with the country.

>more electors means California would have a greater impact

wut? It's proportional, they would have the same amount of power because they votes would be spread out among the other states as well.

In any case, California gets too many votes as it is. Representatives are determined based on the Census, which counts illegal immigrants, of which California has millions. Take those illegals out of the census and California loses 10 votes at least.

Trump's father was only ever worth 250m. Trump inherited that money when he was already a billionaire and he still had to split it with three other siblings. The most he ever received from his dad was 10m throughout the course of his career, all of which was paid back.
>>
>>58230028

That's not my argument at all. Illegals are included in the census, there's no disputing that. There's no nationality requirement to be counted in the Census. California benefits from this by inflating its population by millions, and thus its electoral votes and Representation in the House.

I don't even know what slate is but Obama won both the popular vote and the electoral vote in 2008 and 2012.

Urban centers are like 50% of the population, they absolutely should count just as much as rural areas. The main argument for keeping electoral vote is that it can theoretically prevent someone like Trump from winning but it actually caused him to win so that's already out the window. People in rural areas would still be "fairly" represented by popular vote system anyway, they actually still get more representation than average in the senate. Plus they have their own state and local governments who represent their interests.

Lol, that anon here. I actually am happier now, but I spent up until age 20 in a morass of mental over-stimulation, depression and brain fog due to

-constant smartphone browsing on 4chan, forums, instagram, tiwtter, youtube, facebook, etc
-constant porn watching
-garbage food, no physical activity

One day, I almost had a mental break, and I said enough is enough.

I blocked all 'mindless browsing' websites such as facebook, 4chan (I allow myself to come here now, but limited), twitter, youtube, reddit, etc, and I do not watch porn at all anymore. Safari on my phone is disabled, and the only thing I'll check on my phone is my email for work.

Now, in my free time, I either

-read
-workout
-work

I also meditate every day in the morning.

And I am MUCH happier. I feel clear headed. I feel alive, and that my mind is not covered in tar and mist. If this metaphor makes any sense; the story of my life feels linear now, and I can remember many days back. It does not feel cyclical on a daily level like it used to.

Now, don't misinterpret me and surmise that I consider all technology to be inherently evil and detrimental to human happiness. For god's sake, I'm a software engineer. My point is only that ALL technology is not inherently beneficial to human happiness. Specifically, technology which has the effect of mindlessly overstimulating the human mind is especially sinister. Also, anything which has the potential to encroach upon our privacy or freedom is also unacceptable. Anything that threatens what it means to be human (things humans have done for tens of thousands of years) also should be looked at with an extremely cautious eye.

Do what you want though. My lifestyle works for me. I just hope that humanity approaches the abandonment of the old ways of being human with extreme caution before we descend so deep into 'advancement' that we turn our backs wisdom that has been passed down for thousands of years.

>The main argument for keeping electoral vote is that it can theoretically prevent someone like Trump from winning
No it isn't, the reason and argument for the electoral college is to give smaller population states a greater influence so that they are not drowned out by popular tyranny. Which is why each state has two fixed senators in addition to reps that scale based on population every ten years.

A flat popular vote means that sparsely populated areas always take the backburner to the large urban centers. With the electoral system, it can go either way and at least give the rural areas a chance. Again, even under the electoral system, states like California give the democrats and urbanites a MASSIVE advantage out of the gate.

The small states deserve their influence on federal govt just as much as the bigger ones. Just going
>well you just get your state govs, we get our state govs and federal gov which will continue to usurp state rights, sounds fair right

makes no sense.

Now, the electoral college voters being around to stop a tyrant is a good point and stands. However, Trump is not a tyrant, and is fit to serve under all standards set forth by the constitution. You have only convinced yourself otherwise in a fit of hysteria because more and more the country outside of Urban bubbles rejects liberal policy and ideology. Hilariously, more EC voters turned on Clinton in the end than for Trump. Really makes you think, huh?

>>58230453

I think people are just saying that the electoral vote system is bullshit.

>>
>>58228516
It's just a terrible idea. Voting booths exist to prevent outside influences. If you make everyone vote in plain view they'll tend to vote for the option that is more socially acceptable in their particular social circles. It also means if someone were inclined to do so they could persuade voters to vote a certain way by offering incentives for verifiable proof. Even giving the option to vote in public is bad because it may lead to the assumption that those voting in private are voting for something that is disagreeable.

Apparently the US only has 10 cities that are greater than 1 million people.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_United_States_cities_by_population

When you add them altogether that only makes up around ~8% of the population of the US. Only a portion of those people are even eligible to vote and of those only around half will actually vote.

>The small states deserve their influence on federal govt just as much as the bigger ones. Just going
>>well you just get your state govs, we get our state govs and federal gov which will continue to usurp state rights, sounds fair right

If 3/4ths of the state governments agree to it you can amend the constitution. Theoretically this can block the federal government from encroaching on state laws.

>Hilariously, more EC voters turned on Clinton in the end than for Trump. Really makes you think, huh?
They put forth moderate republicans in an attempt to get republican electors to vote for them. Democratic electors knew their side would not win no matter what so they tried to at least not allow Trump to win. It failed of course but it was a good attempt, it's going to be an interesting historical fact probably.

If a candidate wanted to campaign they'll obviously stop at those 10 cities but they'll still have to go to hundreds of other cities and townships where people actually live. I think the only affect it could have on campaigning is actually making the candidate more in touch with their voterbase. Electoral votes mean the candidate only has to pay attention to voters in states that are contested. Without electoral votes it broadens the focus to towns and cities.

The entire reason for the electoral college is to ease the animosity between the city and rural voters. In the 18th century, the worry was that Virginia would dictate policy for the rest of the purportedly co-equal members of the Union.

A popular vote means that candidates would only have to put a mild amount of effort into flyover states while basically living in NYC, LA, Chicago, etc.

In any case, the true answer to this problem is to return the presidency back to what it was intended to be, not this de facto dictatorship that it has become after FDR usurped the power of the legislature.

Popular vote would more fairly represent suburban and rural areas as well. It's NOT only urban centers that people live in. More campaigning in more cities and townships will mean more people in these areas getting in touch with candidates and getting more politically involved in the process.

A high ranking DNC staffer was fired (but not prosecuted which is BS) for getting caught on video explaining how the DNC buses people to multiple polling centers, registers illegals, stuffs ballot boxes, etc. In the recounts entire districts with Democrat majorities were going to be tossed because of ballot stuffing (more ballots than registered voters). There's good evidence of 2 to 3 million illegal votes cast for Hillary this election.

In other words: Trump won the legitimate popular vote as well.

I would only be willing to go with a popular vote system IF there were strict safeguards against illegal votes of any kind. At minimum that means you must apply to vote; go through a background check; be issued a voting ID with photo; and there must be a system in place so that once you vote at one poll with your ID you cannot vote at another.

It also means paper ballots (or records) and a strict system of counting whereby ANY cheating results in a total loss of votes for whoever the cheater was trying to help, plus prison time.

Absent that? Popular vote will tear America apart.

It's Yara, the database format that Kaspersky Antivirus uses for malware detection rules
http://yara.readthedocs.io/en/v3.5.0/

When Podesta clicked on some fake google docs links and installed a bunch of remote access software on his PC, the cookie the site left matched recognition criteria for some kind of obscure Russian CMS for scammers.

The "all of them" specifies a cookie which contains those exact strings with those exact values.

If he had Kaspersky installed with Obama's antivirus database, it would have stopped him from installing anything

The FBI cleared Hillary of involvement in the email scandal. The official story is that there was no explanation for the total lack of recorded email communications by the secretary of state in the month prior to the attack, and that deletion could not account for loss of emails, nor use of her home email for government matters the same month. The republicans barely have a party anymore. Trump completely uprooted the GOP, and the email leaks show how corrupt the democrat party is. Both parties are fucked, but the republicans won. Either way, knowing /pol/'s contrarian nature, I am not surprised in the recent increase in classical leftists on /pol/ and the increasing /leftypol/ user count.

Again, I don't really care, I just don't want people fucking with the Internet. Politics is a hobby when you boil it all down. The real reason people participate in it is because it gives them a sense of accomplishment to "stand for something", while also giving them something to do, whether that be reading books or flinging shit at the opposing side. That is all fine and dandy, go ahead and fling shit at each other for fun, but don't mess with me and my hobby(technology). Redditors on /pol/ can keep having twitter arguments with other teenagers, but leave the us and our hobby out of it. That is why shit like Internet censorship pisses me off, it is someone with a completely different hobby trying to dictate what goes on in our hobby.

using a computer is an abstract task. you're dealing with thousands of interfaces and constantly trying to create a mental picture in your mind , then you have all the social media added to that which fills you with millions of abstract ideas which aren't always true. You are even sometimes talking to a person that isn't there and holding a mental picture of him in your mind. Through that process you get lost in a world of metaphysics and abstract thoughts. You've trained your mind to imagine more than it could and fooled into thinking you can do everything when its all just in your mind. Before computers people did not do this at all. In the past you would walk outside , do sports, talk to real people, you were at one with the physical world and making real changes. Now its all mental, and that is really the real reason why we're seeing sjw's and super charged liberals fighting for transgender rights. These are people who are completely disconnected from reality and lost in their own minds, almost like a schizophrenic. They have an inflated sense of self worth, they are driven by their mental picture of the world and think they deserve everything when they haven't done shit in real life to improve themselves. You are already leagues ahead of everyone when you 'unplug' yourself, and are doing things like meditation and sports. Those who think being tech wise means they're better are only fooling themselves. it only undermines their ability to act in the real world.
>>
>>58232890
>increase in classical liberals on pol
Libertarians have always been an active voice on /pol/. White nationalism is what is on the rise, in a "proud about your race and acknowledge racial IQ" instead of a "gas the kikes, race war now" way.

Left/pol/ is rising because of the bernouts and the rising number of people that actually think Cuba did nothing wrong. I doubt they have active member count to influence an election like /pol/ can. All I see the lefties do is create Marxism generals that immediately devolve into shitposting.
>>
>>58228946
No it was not even that. The whole issue is around the hack of information. Because Hillary is a stupid idiot who put it on her own private server and not the protected server from the government which would have made it more difficult to breach. On top of that Podesta clicked a unknown link and input his own password and was phished.

America media is trying to blame the issue on the Russians for hacking Democrats to influence the election. But as far as I am concerned none of this would have happened had Hillary just used the government server so it's more her fault than the Russians.

He had a super majority in Congress for two years and all he could accomplish is a mangled Healthcare bill that's doubled premiums and a spending bill that did fuck all to speed up the slowest recovery in history. He also started wars in Syria, Yemen, Lybia, and Somalia.

But, hey at least he doubled the deficit and followed Bush's timeline to leave Iraq.

The Pakistanis were protecting Osama, who no longer had an operational role in AL Qaeda.

In any case, any benefit from killing Osama was quickly erased when Obama sent a billion dollars in arms to "moderate rebels" in Syria.

So? Why wouldn't you want those people killing each other it's the best possible thing for America. Instead of them being brainwashed into wanting to kill Americans they can kill each other. How is this a bad thing?
>>
>>58233772

Because those "moderate rebels" ended up turning into ISIS at worst and sought to overthrow Assad at best. Destabilizing yet another middle eastern country is the worst thing possible for the US. Israel and Saudi Arabia both want Assad gone though, so Obama goes along with it.

The only way to stop the power struggle is to annex. Too bad we had a president who cared what the pussy UN cared.

But with trump
It's time to annex the middle east!

HOLY WAR NOW!
>>
>>58233798
Assad was already destabilizing the area that's what started this mess in the first place.

There's many groups in Syria they could all be considered ISIS especially when it comes to Trump and his cabinet. McCain wanted to insert large scale U.S. ground forces.
>>
>>58233852

>wanting to be in charge of all those shitskins

No thanks. Not flooding the region with guns and bombs will go a long way towards stabilizing the region.
>>
>>58233868
That's not going to happen under Trump.
>>
>>58233863

Assad was the legitimate leader of Syria. There was a small civil uprising, funded by the CIA. Once that became public, the CIA flooded Syrian "moderate rebels" with all the weapons and training they could possibly need.
>>
>>58233876

I hope not. The best thing we can do to fight ISIS is team up with Assad and Russia in Syria to stabilize that country, then partner with whatever country wants to help us rid the region of Wahabists.

Muslims extremists motivated by their religion commit terror. Mexico has drug lords operating in the US. Illegals are here illegally and need to be removed by law.

This isn't bigoted, this is common sense and reality. Trump has never said anything racist.
>>
>>58234209
What are you implying that you know something about them because of where you live? Where do you live?

ISIS as a whole is being beaten back. That Berlin attack is a lone wolf attack why would we ally with Russia and Assad because of stuff like that. Getting the extremists to kill themselves fighting each other is working so well.

Ditch those allies for worse ones like Russia and Assad for what purpose they come with their own baggage.

The Hispanics are going to get those jobs, and they’re going to love Trump

Virtually every time Trump mentions a minority group, he uses the definite article the, as in “the Hispanics,” “the Muslims” and “the blacks.”

The best taco bowls are made in Trump Tower Grill. I love Hispanics!

an African-American protester after the man began chanting “Black lives matter.”
“Maybe [the protester] should have been roughed up,” he mused. “It was absolutely disgusting what he was doing.”

“He’s a Mexican,” Trump told CNN of Curiel. “We’re building a wall between here and Mexico. The answer is, he is giving us very unfair rulings — rulings that people can’t even believe.”
