1. It's not rose-tinted glasses you have to worry about, it is the act of you "remembering" it wrong, by which you only remember the good parts.

2. If you actually watched the documentary you posted past the second episode, you'd see the pointless BBS drama, e-crying, internet losers calling other internet losers what they are.

2a. The loser bbs admins are writing the history in this case because all the people they wrongly banned wouldn't bother to make an appearance, or even know. And yet, they still decided to call themselves losers in episode 3 and on, completely on their own.

3. Even if you are right, you are doing nothing to help by just crying about it now.

4. BBSes evolved into forums, they even kept part of the name. For example, phpBB. However, you're going to instantly disregard this because it isn't a piece of shit, with 5 users on it, made out of crappy ascii art, because those things are essentially a retroactive attack on whatever circlejerk BBS you were a part of.
