I'm an Acer XB270HU owner (model prior). It is the finest monitor I have ever owned, and I am an oldfag (pushing 40), so have seen my fair share of hardware evolve over the years.
Quite nice image quality for the price, but what impresses me most is the near zero input lag combined with how glorious Gsynced 144Hz is in motion. I loathe any form of input lag and latency with a passion, and this monitor satisfies this gripe of mine.
I have had several friends comment on the screen and subsequently go out and buy one almost immediately. From what I understand the differences in the XB271HU is a bump in attainable refresh rates (165Hz over 144Hz) but it is otherwise the same.
Naturally you will own an nVidia video card, though to push that full 165Hz in Gsync you're going to need something pretty serious.
The XB271HU is probably worth paying a little extra for, but it depends on where you live, OP. If you're in america then they're priced pretty competitively. Where I am the asus costs about 1k USD and the Acer nearly 1.5k USD.
Get the exact same Asus monitor but TN for $500
