if you could find a box of old routers (real real cheap or junk/free) that were working to an extent and were repeater mode compatible in the admin setup that would help tremendously; but problem is that they would be chaining the range of multiple hops and each hop would half your throughput [wds/repeating rules of nature]. so you would have to really jack up the default throughput on your gparents router's end to make up for the difference initially and then arrange the highest max throughput on each router hop to step down the routers from most powerful to least powerful to your end. plus on top of that if your gparents primary router was broadcasting a TKIP or AES WPA2 signal you'd be out of luck anyway because most of those older repeaters/lan configurable routers only supported open or WEP. so you would literally have to login to their router's web admin gui and change the signal type but they would probably notice that pretty quickly unless their password could be hashed to WEP standards and then you went and re-configured all their devices to the new standard without them realizing what was going on. then you always have the power issue cause each unit would have to have power on it. at that point you may as well just attempt a massive wired chain and try to cover it up shallow (weather can royally jack this up though, had an underground cable [IN PVC] kill over on me recently from lower ground flooding event and had to just wds the lan network, was not worth effort of replacement). if your properties are adjacent to each other at certain intervals you can therefore use the individual routers as boostpoints. but if you had to go anything other than wireless watch out your subnets would be a living nightmare though lol. just my 2cents [my house network was fun to design].

EX: on hops 300mbps // 150mbps // 75mbps // 37.5mbps// 18.75mbps // 9.753mbps (still enough to stream) // 4.876mbps // 2.438mbps (will take patience but if its worth the unlimited still).

well it is an stretch of a goal anyway and at least the math was right, plus at least the yard would have wifi too. lol

but wouldn't running that powerful of a single 2.4ghz or 5ghz band link (in DBs) through the antennas cause some wacky interference issues though with surrounding bluetooth and cordless home phones if you had them (course check the channels but still being that strong)? plus how would you natively tie in such an antennae directly into a router or switch without a converter? the antennae would have to be rj45 Ethernet passed and probably POE to pump that powerful of a connection through to keep the band stable over the length of the broadcast.

just thought you could use an antennae with a coax for passing through to a docsis modem at the receiving house (local lan ip on gparents side would be set aside to form a logical bridge for modem to pass through its internet traffic) but it would mess up your subnets and nat could cause other issues for accessing local devices on the other side if needed. its still quite a long shot.

or you could always at that point use the $50 fryer strainer mod antennae mentioned; being USB based and have a hosting unit at the receiving house capture the signal then passing it through a means of p2p shared internet connection with the rest of the house so you could use it with multiple devices. but its a long shot anyway you go (especially in terms of stability/reliability).
