>I do java work for a bank
Me too and it fucking sucks
>>58202991
me too, actually
and yeah, it sucks. It amazes me how shitty the level of quality is in an area I was expecting to require top-notch kind of work
I feel like programming is awesome only as a hobby because enterprises always have to ruin everything with Pajeet's (((fol plodoktevity))) flat design bloatware. Are there any fields of programming where it's reasonably good even in an enterprise context?
>>58203006
why ? The work isn't too difficult and the pay is alright. I don't think i am as smart as i used too be so maybe producing mediocre code is the best that i can do

I do Java work for an ISP.
I feel your pain bros.

I also do Java work, not for a bank but for a company making various finance/management applications for enterprise use. I'm so far down the backend though that I don't really have to care what the data passing through actually is. It's quite easy work most of the time, kind of boring too, but my workload is light, the pay is good and the schedule is only 7.5h/day, so I'm quite happy with the job in the end.
I do ops for the government.
The product we uses an XML based language to call web services and route message to the Websphere MQ backends.
It's a shitshow as far as the eye can see.
>software and not firmware
>java
Whats it like living in Bangledesh?

All the firmware jobs around where I live were shit-tier. Worse pay, worse hours, worse location and a higher workload. No thanks, I have more fun making my own shit at home anyway.

Why do people dislike XML? I can understand if you're stuck editing it by hand but JSON is no better there and I've had no issues using either.
It's pretty incredible how much enterprise software sells for. I can honesty say I've done barely any work and yet companies pay 6 figure licenses to use our software. Pretty eye opening considering how much I thought the consumer market makes.

thank you; i immediately noticed the potential

> I can understand if you're stuck editing it by hand
Exactly.
Plus the language has interesting quirks, like all "variables" being a single XML document. They're accessed using XPath.

My friend made this and starting selling these on redbubble. He gave me a free one and made a couple hundred off of it. Ironically, he hates nge.
