Perform search queries like you can with Siri or Google now.

Tie into home automation devices.
Set reminders.
Fart.
>What if I'm called Alexa?
You can change the wake word to "Echo" or "Amazon."
>What if someones going down the street screaming alexa buy me stuff randomly?
If it's intelligible, it'll trigger. Just as well, they could be walking around shouting "XBOX, OFF."
Amazon echo is a meme
I'd rather just use a phone app
Today on CNBC Brian Sullivan was talking about this story where people's Alexis' were being triggered by the TV. So he started saying "Alexa play thunder road". "Alexa why is Brian so handsome?" and other stuff. Loud and clear.
I kek'd.

Pretty much every tech podcast has to be careful when they talk about echo/siri/google now/cortana because the podcast audio can trigger the devices, even the one it's being played on.
