As a non-shill who's been using an iPhone 5s since a few days, I can tell you that they are actually good phones.

iOS is a good os, it's simpler than Android but it doesn't get in the way of your day to day activities.The major gripe I have with it is that there are still some outdated design choices.
Official apps and games run better on the iPhone, but other apps tend to be better on Android, again which is better for you depends on what you use your phone for. Also the os is updated to the latest version which is nice and unique for a 3+ year old phone.

Hardware-wise it's clearly a quality product, it has a good screen, a good camera and a good build quality. My Nexus 5 can't match any of these (except the higher resolution screen).

Battery life could be better, but it gets you to the end of the day.

In the end, *if you have the money* buying an iPhone is worth it.

The hand-me-down iPhone 5s I got as a replacement is still going strong. I got it after my Samsung GS4 shat itself. Same with my aunt's husband. He got his GS4 the same time as mine and it shat itself a couple of months out of warranty. Heck, my mum's using a 2nd hand iPhone 3GS as a sort of a dumbphone and after a battery change, it's still pushing out.

All of my siblings have iPhones. My dad has 2 iPhones, and my dad gave me a 6S Plus for Christmas and took back the 5s, using it as his work phone.

I think they upped themselves with the current flagship, but my experience with Samsung soured me in getting a Samsung phone again. Their dumbphones are good though.
