How is the t420s in 2016? Is $500CAD too much?

I'm considering getting this model:

Right now I have a C720 running arch and I like it but the keyboard is a little cramped and I run out of memory a little too quickly.

I bought my t520 for $430 a couple years ago. So yes, $500 seems like too much.

This. The t420s holds up well with an SSD and 8gb+ of ram. I wouldn't spend more than 200usd on one though.

FleaBay is a much better place to buy any ThinkPads.

I have an X220T. Fine laptop, but I have the IPS screen so your results may vary with TN eye cancer.

Hardware-wise, performs well. I'll probably opt for a new x laptop when I get tired of this one or they come down enough, I could definitely do with something a little more powerful than what i have right now quite frankly. But it's a fine laptop with a good keyboard, good battery life, and enough power to run a linux system reliably.

depending on the condition and what it has onboard, it really shouldn't be more than 250US on average, unless it still has warranty on it from lenovo

I bought mine for $150 USD.

Try craigslist and ebay.
